Shangri-La Homestays

This is my kind of place. I stayed in the 4 bed (2 bunk beds). There are drawers and and shelves to put away your belongings in a nice sturdy bunk bed that doesn't make noise when your move. It is a typical Chinese mattress, however I found it comfortable. It also has a heated mattress pad with 3 settings. The shower is a small room that is all tiled and clean, and it's separated from the men's shower. The toilets are also separated and it's a heated toilet seat. Rulan,the innkeeper, is super friendly and arranged discounted tickets to the Songzanlin Lamasery one day and the Pudacou National park another day. When I became anxious about the bus, Rulan was supportive when I texted her. One night she served a really nice tea to me and the next she brought me heated soy milk. I expecially like that there is a small garden and a outside rooftop deck. Washing machine is available for 15CNY and can be hung on the upper deck which has a nice view!

Very nice place, the room is big, The bed very comfortable and the shower works perfectly. The bathroom was clean but some hair on the floor, but overall okay. The location was great, no noisy at all and a lot of restaurants nearby. We had a late checkout and they stored our luggage while we were waiting for our flight at night. Shangri-la was amazing! Very right choice. Provide the order at the visitor center and follow the bus to the hotel, and then the hotel butler will communicate with you about the itinerary, etc., which is very considerate. The hotel includes tickets, transportation fees, and a rafting fee, and then the hotel will provide a car to take you to the scenic spots or buses, which is very considerate and makes the whole day trip more comfortable. Awesome. The point is, I saw monkeys in the morning🐒

unique, excellent service, location, meals and room. Owner couple went out of their way to serve guests. They cooked the best meal in the area so no need to find food elsewhere. They arranged transport for us to go to Shangrila, Lijian Airport and the hiking trails. We were also invited to a wedding party in the Village high up i the mountain. Joyous celebration of dance and song with the whole village. our last day was the special day where the villagers slaughter their own pigs to make preserved meat. We were again invited to the farms high up in the mountain and had a most unique experience of live pig slaughtering and BBQ. No tour will ever offer this. As hotel, the accommodation is excellent for the price. Our room overlooks the gorge and mountain. The heated bed is great touch and comfort. Can see stars in the sky at night from the room balcony. Family run and treat guests like family. Highly recommended.

The staff at this home stay is some of the most exceptional and professional I’ve encountered in all my years of travel around the world (special shout-out to 小宋！）We were booked for 2 nights and our group of 3 was generously given an upgraded room. From the moment we checked in, 小宋 and his team were eager to assist with questions, recommendations and helping to arrange and set up itineraries for our stay. Sadly, on my second day, I became severely sick with altitude sickness and 小宋 came to my assistance immediately- checking my oxygen levels and setting me up to the oxygen machine in the room. He handled the entire situation with such kindness, compassion, composure and professionalism that I’m still blown away. He helped my family members find medicine for me and offered his advise and guidance while making them feel assured at what should’ve been quite a scary situation. When we decided it was best to leave Shangri la as soon as possible for lower elevations in Lijiang, 小宋 sprang into action to find us a carpool that was leaving within the hour and also took the initiative to help make sure we were refunded for our second night booked on a third party site. I can’t thank him enough and I will 100% recommend this hotel and this team to everyone I know that’s traveling to Yunnan. I truly hope to be able to return myself under better conditions. Even more so, the hotel also happens to be incredibly designed and beautiful with smart tech features in the rooms. When I booked, I thought it was a cool feature that they have oxygen machines inside each room, but who would’ve known that it would prove to be a lifesaver for me 😅

Pros: excellent location, close enough to the old town without being noisy at all; extremely friendly staff, who picked us up from the airport for free, helped us with the luggage all the time, and gave great advice about tours in Shangri-La; clean; comfy beds; good WiFi connection Something to improve: the bathroom- shower was a little difficult to use, and it would be great to separate dry and wet areas; breakfast was good but lack variety- we had the same for three days straight

The hotel it’s near the Shangri-la Ancient area, about 10 minutes walking, near the hotel has many different restaurant options. The room it’s fancy, it’s cheap fro the equipment and views that it has. The owner and the staff are really warm people. If you want rest assured you must book this hotel.

It was a great homestay experience. The boss and the proprietress are very enthusiastic. The dog in the hotel is also very docile. Fortunately, the boss upgraded the room type for us. The windows can directly see the two towers of Guishan Park in the ancient city of Dukezong. There is floor heating and power supply in the room. Oxygen has a humidifier, there is an electric blanket on the bed, everything is available! Disposable toilet covers are also thoughtfully prepared in the toilet. I really appreciate it. I feel the warmth brought by the homestay in the cold Shangri-La.

On the edge of Dukezong ancient city, it is very easy to find, and it is also convenient to take a taxi. Many travel friends settle here, and it is economical. If you are alone, there are many services at the front desk to join groups to go to different niche routes, which is very considerate. The only one close to the road, there are occasional vehicles passing by at night.

The hotel is conveniently within 5 min walking distance to the prayers wheel. There is a bus stop close by 3 min walk that will take you to most of the sightseeing spots including the Potatso national park. Above all, the concierge service at the hotel is immaculate!!! We stopped by Shangri-La as a transfer port for our Tibet trip. We arrived at 10 PM at the airport, the host was kind enough to pick us up after we landed and drop us off the next day. Not having to worry about transportation is a plus when you’re traveling aboard. The room and breakfast were as advertised. We appreciated the oxygen machine and the humidifier in the room. The overall experience is great and we’ll definitely book again if we are in the area again.
