Every dive was a new adventure, with countless colourful surprises waiting to be discovered. Speaking of adventures, the pool area was our own private oasis. Sheltered from the wind and sun's warm embrace, it offered the perfect spot to cool off between snorkelling escapades. And let's not forget the swim-up bar – our happy hour haven with delicious cocktails that quenched our thirst and matched the vibrant hues of the surrounding reef. But Sanctuary's magic extended far beyond its stunning location. The resort's restaurant was a culinary gem. Fresh, flavourful dishes at reasonable prices – what more could a sun-kissed explorer ask for? And those island-inspired cocktails? Let's just say they were the perfect sunset companion. The true heart of Sanctuary, though, was its incredible staff. Friendly, helpful, and always going above and beyond, they made us feel like cherished guests. Check-in and check-out were as smooth as the lagoon itself, and free parking and a nearby bus stop made exploring the island a breeze. Kayaking and paddleboarding were included in our stay, adding an extra layer of excitement to our island adventure. We paddled across the glassy lagoon, feeling like true explorers navigating a turquoise sea. Plus, having snorkels, fins, and beach towels in the room meant we were always ready to dive into the underwater paradise whenever the urge struck. Our room was a cozy haven, decorated with a charming island flair. The comfy bed was perfect for resting after a day of exploration, and the air conditioning was a godsend on those balmy Cook Islands nights. Sanctuary Rarotonga wasn't just a vacation; it was an experience that left us yearning for more. Whether you're a snorkelling enthusiast, a cocktail connoisseur, or simply seeking island serenity, this place has something for everyone. We stayed at Edgewater for 12 days as part of a holiday/work scout and it was beyond everything we expected. Basic room was perfect for our needs with great air conditioning which is essential and complimentary tropical continental buffets breakfast each morning. We had an amazing room which was on 3rd floor behind the restaurant with views of the pool, sea and stunning gardens from our window and balcony. The staff were so great, always happy and couldn’t do more for us including see us walking around the island and giving us rides in their personal vehicle and on their personal time. Complimentary snorkelling gear was well used by us and we ate frequently from the restaurant and definitely used the bar a lot. Got a massage at the spa which was blissful and easy to book in for. We will definitely be coming back again, I don’t think we’d want to stay anywhere else! Special mention to staff Ngaoa with reservations help and hospitality staff Veti, Jimmy, Mila and activities team. My only negatives were we had a room that seemed it adjoined to another by a double lock door but when someone was in that room it was not sound proof at all and was very loud. The guests that spent two nights there were unfortunately loud till the wee hours so that kept me awake. Luckily that was only for two nights and then they were gone.

Hotel location is very good, must book a sea view room, the lagoon landscape is superb, not suitable for children, the pool is very small, many stones on the beach are not beaches, the lagoon is very shallow children can snorkel but there is no fish. On the day of the check-in, the hotel said that the sea view room area does not accept children. After the Ctrip communication shop, it is necessary to change to the poolside room. The front desk has arranged a sea view room. The process is somewhat unclear. The hotel facilities are relatively simple and old, the restaurant is not big, the dishes are not much, the breakfast is simple in Western style, and there are fruits such as papaya and orange. The front desk and restaurant staff are very welcoming. Car rental is convenient, and it is convenient to book a day trip. Rarotonga is very small. There are two buses in clockwise and counterclockwise directions. The hotel is getting on and off at the entrance of the hotel and it takes about an hour around the island. Ten minutes from the airport, the front desk helps to book a taxi to the airport for $30. The hotel is generally satisfactory and will consider staying.

We keep coming back to this resort and that is largely down to the people. The staff are all wonderful and make a point of knowing you by name from day one. The resort itself is in a fantastic position and well maintained. The pool on our last visit was looking a bit weathered but we were told this is to be upgraded early next year. It really doesnt affect the use of it and we spent a lot of time in the pool. Returning visitors are acknowledged and it makes going back well worth it. Thanks to Kat, Rowena, Elenoa, Maa, Micheal and the rest of the wonderful team for another great holiday experience.

We purchased this holiday via Luxury Escapes and really couldn't complain. The resort is stunning, tranquil and relaxing. There are only 10 beachfront bungalows and 4 garden studios. We stayed in bungalow number 3, just a few steps from the beach. The view of the lagoon was spectacular and utilities perfect. There is a little kitchenette with a Nespresso machine, milk frother, sink, even a full set of cutlery, wine opener, chopping board and gear for snorkelling ready in the wardrobe. The bathroom is spacious and bright but we would welcome to have a tub there. The staff in the restaurant was attentive, especially around dinner time and they made our time wonderful. Chef Pai prepared a wonderful meal for us and the pork belly was unforgettable!!! We want to thank especially Chantelle, the lovely lady manager in charge. She is truly a kind person with a great heart. Chantelle is so friendly, professional, and caring and we could see that the comfort of guests is her priority. We were only a little bit disappointed by Laggon because there was nothing to see under the water due to the decline in coral reef health.

The hotel is right next to Little Polynesian, convenient location, you can take the bus to the town, the beach is very beautiful, can enjoy the ocean view directly from room. The room is clean, with cutlery and a kettle, but the bath water is not stable.

When we visited the islands (date prob not the same as selection allows) we had a bit of a mixed experience, this place saved us and made everything better, thank you Fern, will never forget your kindness, and Lloyd, superstar, and the beautiful dog :) would love to come back and see you soon, cant speak highly enough of you all xxx
