Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat

Honestly can't fault this amazing resort, it truly is paradise on earth. We needed a relaxing, get away from it all holiday and Drift was just perfect. Internet connection in our room (we were in a water villa) was a bit hit and miss but that just added to the 'no news no shoes' feel. Staff were so cheerful and helpful, the food was delicious with a huge choice of different dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the cocktails & mocktails were a treat too. Rooms spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped; a choice of sun loungers, comfy chairs and a day bed on the decking area whilst gazing out over the crystal waters. Black tipped reef sharks and a wealth of tropical fish swimming right below the villa and excellent snorkelling on the house reef. Wildlife galore from the terns and heron to geckos, lizards and the most adorable little fluffy black kanbili chicks. We really didn't want to come home, thank you Angelfish travel for finding us this gem!

We wanted to get away from the stresses of life. And spend some quality relaxing time together. We couldn't of chosen a better place. So quiet here no noisey night life or people. The island is very clean, small and beautiful. The staff are all excellent. The food is plentiful, varied and well cooked. The reef is just a short swim away, it is still recovering from bleaching. But this hasn't deterred the fish from living there. An amazing variety of fish and it was a pleasure to share their space so take your snorkel. It's a holiday we'll always remember for all the right reasons.

Excellent holiday on a truly beautiful and very peaceful island. We had a water villa on the sunset side which was light and airy, well furnished, spotlessly clean (cleaned twice a day) with efficient air con plus a ceiling fan, which was great as it was extremely hot in the middle of the day. The views are truly amazing with a big deck and direct access to the ocean. The sunsets were lovely and the night time sky equally so. The coral is a short swim and largely healthy with many different types of fish. The staff are unfailingly friendly and smiley and cannot do enough for you. The food is eclectic but good and plentiful with a different theme every night at the live cooking station, manned by a really cheerful chef! Be aware though that alcohol (unless on AI) is very expensive. The island is tiny which may not suit people looking for a lot to do, though there are various trips available. It is beautifully kept and there is no need for shoes from the moment you arrive until you leave. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in lovely surroundings this is the place.

Drift Thelu Veliga is a very small resort with nice bungalows and a beautiful beach. However, definitely not suited for divers - DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU ARE A ENTHUSIASTIC DIVER! Local dive operator, which is absolutely unreliable, poorly managed and equipped. Promised excursions didn't happen as there's always a minimum of divers required (difficult on a small non divers island). This was not mentioned at time of booking. Dive prices were outrageously high (double the costs to other islands). Resort management was informed but didn't care about our needs as dive center is an external provider and were not supportive to find a solution for us divers. We decided to the change the island and no refund or courtesy on behalf of the management. Very unflexibel through and through. If you are looking for an intimate island holiday without activities this could be your choice.

Drift Resort Is the right Place of you are looking for a genuine and a relaxing maldivian escape. Small Island, no more than 60 guests, good food and people nice and always ready to satisfy tour requests. The Island Is localted 35' away from Male with direct flights. Last but not least, the sea Is wonderful and you can make snorkeling and Watch a Great variety of fishes.

What an idyllic atoll! So small that you ca walk the entire circumference in five minutes, yet it never feels at all busy or crowded. Staff unfailingly pleasant and helpful, food excellent and aried from day to day, making every meal a great pleasure. We would certainly choose Drift again for an Maldivian getaway. We were equally delighted wth all the arrangements made by Angelfish who were always available and ready to offer advice and help during the booking process.

Very nice island with very nice reef and life. We chose this island for its coral reef and the fact it was small, only adults, and no other noisy disturbances. I must say the staff was really nice, and the food was quite good. I wish we had more variety, especially fruit or juices, but generally everything was very good quality. Positive note we were probably only 8-10 guests in the island as it was low season. Things they could improve: - cocktail prices / juices a bit too high compared to other resorts - Scuba - the school is amazing, but again prices are double from other places. I believe a mark up of 30% even 50% is ok, but 100% should be ok and this would be a reason for us for example for not being able to go back. - Room service - phone would not work and when had to ask the waiter to bring us something he was generally not happy to do it - Cleaning room at 7pm sharp. Sometimes we wanted to go a little later to dinner, but the room cleaning guy made his presence clear outside of the door, even making noise and leaving equipment at the door steps. I am sorry but I found this not appropriate and it bothered me plenty.

Loved this dream paradise holiday! As soon as covid restrictions ended my partner and I made the decision to take a holiday to one of our dream destinations, the Maldvies. We had high expectations given the popularity of the Maldives, but we still did a lot of research on the different hotel for couples. We were so glad to find Drift Thelu Veliga - we absolutely loved this resort and everything about it. We stayed there for 5 nights and we wished we had stayed longer! First of all the island is small and specifically catering to couples (not large families with kids, and certainly not a party kind of atmosphere). We loved this though as it was specifically what we were looking for. It was relaxing, calm and allowed us to explore and enjoy the natural perfection that is the Maldives - paradise. The staff were excellent too! Always attentive, very polite and gave us the space we wanted but also friendly if approached for discussion. We really enjoyed our interactions with everyone there, including kitchen staff, administrative staff, and we even met the general manager while we were there. Everyone was courteous, and we even made friends with a couple of them - everyone was great. Perhaps the only thing that we had some trouble with was initial contact and emails with booking staff - replies were slow and did not always answer all of our questions, so had to follow-up with them via email often. But to be honest, everything was resolved in the end and this became nothing but a distant memory for us. We booked an ocean villa, and boy was it worth it! Going to sleep and waking up hearing the water lapping against the villa was heaven. Seeing nothing but that crystal-clear turquoise water and the horizon in the morning right outside our window was breathtaking! We couldn’t get enough of it. The villa was excellent and although there are some minor ammenities that we would often expect at this level of hotel - all the necessary things were covered. We especially appreciated the free coffee and water delivered and restocked every day! The styling was simple but really nice, the bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was roomy and beautiful. Honestly, there was little to fault in this area. Also housekeeping and turn-down services were excellent, they cleaned and tidied everything really well and respected our privacy when requested. The food was much better than we expected! We had read a few comments by previous guests stating issues with the food, but in the whole we found the food excellent - and there was such a large variety as well! We are pretty big foodies and we love good quality food, so our expectations are fairly high, but we were pleasantly surprised with the quality and quantity of food available. We had breakfast included in the package and we took advantage of that and often had big breakfasts which would last us until dinner.
