Hotels near Museum of Unheard (of) Things in Berlin

I went to this hotel for a mid-week vacation with my lovely daughter. With an UBER it was about 10 Euro to get to the hotel. Check-in was smooth, the older man behind the desk wasnt overly friendly but rather efficient and that was fine. We paid the tourist-tax and got one room-key for our room. We paid online about 80 Euro a night and we got a room with three beds at the back. The room was clean and simple. A desk with a big-screen TV, a shower-room with a toilet and a wash-basin. The shower was ok but we didnt like the shower-curtains. Also the water would be warm for about five minutes but it didnt bother us. Everyday cleaning with new linen and towels. In the morning you can have breakfast but you have to pay for it. We didnt use it. The hotel is set conveniently in the middle of Berlin near Kurfurstenstrasse and Dam. Near the U-Bahn and busses.

Goed ontvangen na een lange reis vanuit nl naar Berlijn. We zijn naar potsdamerstrasse 129 gestuurd daar waar een steiger aan de voorzijde staat. Nr gebeld wat daar aan de deur vermeld hing aantal keren gebelde geen reacties. Trip.com gebeld deze hebben een kamer bij Lindemann's geregeld waarbij ik niets bij hoeft te betalen. This hotel has had a revamp and is now called the Art Hotel, Park Plaza. There is another Park Plaza nearby…..we ended up there first! So don’t get confused!! Once you find this hotel….we arrived on the day of a national strike… it’s fab. Ignore the journey planner…. This hotel is a less than 10 min walk from the western end of the U1 line. The room we had was on 5th floor on a quite busy street, but it was so quiet we didn’t realise it until we looked out of the window the following morning. The bed and pillows were so comfortable, a great night sleep was had by us both. Shower was a big rainfall type with a smaller head shower head option if you wanted. Complimentary Elemis shower gel, hand wash, as well as body lotion. Breakfast was worth every penny as part of your B&B option. Otherwise it’s €18 for a full option or €5 for coffee and a croissant in the bar. Breakfast was fresh, pastries, cheese, meats, toast, mushrooms, sausage, bacon, pancakes, cereals, yoghurts; you could make your own fresh juice from fresh veggies & fruits. Coffee was excellent (I was told)…. I took my own teabags as I am very fussy, and made great tea. There is a spectacular hot water urn……that is very ornate and was awesome. Staff were multilingual and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very insightful about the local area, and the available public transport options. I would highly recommend this hotel which has pop art throughout. We are planning to head back to visit Berlin again and we will most certainly stay here again.

This is a very affordable 2 star hotel and it certainly feels like it. They provide the bare minimum and not much more. Our stay was OK with some disappointments. The biggest problem was the bathroom. Bathroom floor was filthy and there was quite a large amount of visible black mold on the walls. Also the area was quite shady and we didn't feel safe walking around in the evening. Service was OK and the breakfast was fine compared to the price. Air conditioning worked well. Over all an average stay but we probably would not stay here again.

The good news is that the Illy coffee from the Illy machine in the bedroom is superb. All the rest is bad, and worse. Marriott seems to believe that lots of marble in the bathrooms is the most important ingredient in making a good hotel. They're wrong. The key to running a good hotel is service. And the service at the Hotel Berlin Central District is awful. As usual, my wife and I are traveling for both business and pleasure -- conferences in London and Berlin, a week of tourism in the wilds of Brittany, and a week of seeing friends, visiting art galleries, etc., in Paris. So we are traveling heavy. We need to carry a lot of clothing -- plus the tools for doing business -- multiple laptops, other communications equipment, etc. When we arrived at the hotel, there was absolutely nobody to help us get our stuff from the taxi into the hotel. In fact, during the entire week we were there, there never was anybody in front of the hotel to help anybody with anything -- including when we left. There is no concierge service. We asked the people at the reception desk to help us on a number of concierge-type issues. They were totally untrained to do so. For example, the first night we were there, we asked for recommendations for a restaurant outside the hotel -- within walking distance. We were given a map, with a circle drawn around an area near Potsdamer Platz. We walked there and found a collection of fast-food joints, such as Burger King, and a couple of pizzerias. She might have asked us if that was what we had in mind. It wasn't. On another occasion, I asked for help in finding a pharmacy. It took the lady about 20 minutes to find the name of a pharmacy and to print out a Google map showing Potsdamer Platz, with an arrow showing where the pharmacy was supposed to be. I wandered around the area for a bit, found nothing, and asked a taxi driver who was parked in a queue. He stared at the map, pulled out his cell-phone, plugged in the German word for ”apothecary”, and showed me where it was. The arrow was in the wrong place. On a number of occasions, I tried to call the reception desk from our room. Nobody ever answered the phone -- with one exception. After ten minutes of waiting, somebody picked up the phone -- and immediately hung up on me. Once again, the Illy coffee is brilliant. But the first day we were there, we were provided two capsules of regular coffee and two capsules of de-caffinated. My wife and I both like real coffee and lots of it. So we asked the people at reception to tell whomever that we would much prefer getting four capsules of real coffee. We also left a note (in German) for the cleaning crew telling them the same thing. The next day we got two capsules of real coffee and two of decaffeinated. I reminded the lady at reception. The following day, we got two capsules of decafinated and one of real coffee. And things got worse from there. After a couple of days, we ran out of Kleenex tissues in the bath room. I left the

This is a gorgeous spanking brand-new hotel in Berlin. Reception is exceptionally courteous, friendly and accommodating - I couldn't have asked for a better team of associates. The bar staff, breakfast room staff, concierge, and even the maintenance staff are as wonderful. I had a lovely large room with the most comfortable bed & pillows - all in modern, tasteful decor. The room also had amenities such as a mini-fridge, coffee service, waters, robe, and iron and work desk area with accessible power points on top (no bending under the desk here!) Upon arrival & departure I was greeted warmly . This sets the tone for a positive experience and I certainly felt the genuine welcome with pleasant smiles and friendly nature. The hotel is quite accessible to 2 U-Bahn stations, and within walking distance of the Berlin Zoo. Getting around Berlin is fairly easy with a well-integrated underground system of U-Bahn & S-Bahn trains. The hotel is on a quiet road across the Los Angeles Platz small park/square. Everything Berlin has to offer is easily accessible, plus plenty of shopping, dining and outdoor activities within a small perimeter. Vielen Dank für Ihre freundliche Gastfreundschaft!

Stayed again, as always good. The room is large and comfortable. The only thing is that the washbasin is too high and too wide, which is a bit inappropriate for Chinese women. They can only wash their faces on tiptoes.

The hostel is very dirty. All the surfaces are sticky. There is a terrible stench in the rooms, toilets, corridors and lobby. Things forgotten by the previous tenants are lying around until they are thrown away by the current tenants. Mattresses are stained with brown stains, possibly menstrual blood (I was in the women's room). The pillows are crumpled and terribly uncomfortable. The beds stand so you can't fully open the window to air it out. The lobby is very noisy and smelly too, apparently there is no ventilation or it is blocked. Absolutely not recommended, even for 25€ a night! It's too much for this place.

First impressions were good as our room was ready a good two hours before the advertised 3pm check-in. This was a life-saver as my wife and I were running on empty after a great tour of Germany. The hotel is obviously themed around Hollywood stars: each guest room has a pictured star outside it. Our room was much larger than we expected (having stayed in some much smaller hotels at similar or more expensive price in Germany). It had a fabulous walk-in wet room which doesn't sound like a clincher, but we really appreciated after a day pounding the Berlin streets. The hotel itself is less than a ten minute walk from the Savigny Platz S-Bahn on line S9. The receptionist I spoke to was really helpful pointing out the sites we were interested in on a map. Finally, the breakfast, set in a huge room, had plenty of choice. We'd definitely stay here again when in Berlin.

This hotel is in a great location for exploring the city, especially the Schoneberg area and all it has to offer. The room was clean and well appointed (though the big pictures of some fancily dressed woman watching you from over the bed and on the shower screen were weird) with an amazing shower. The whole building however felt uncomfortably warm everywhere. The room A/C didn’t make any difference (personally I have issues with hotels that rely solely on air conditioning for cooling rooms, but I digress) luckily though all the windows could open so got plenty of fresh air circulating. When I come back to Berlin I’ll definitely keep this place in mind.
