I get my reservation though the sales department. The person I deal with is very courteous, 1. I agree with couple of bad reviews here,,,,, Key issues, room outdated and moist smell on rooms and hallways, ( they are trying to fix the issues with dehumidifiers throughout the floor's hallway.... 2. front desk : they have inexperience front desk agents..... ( looks like no customer service skills training is happening at this location.... 3. to give the benefit of the doubt, this location has what is called club members that are not guest of the hotel, but they use the facility's gym, pool, sauna, and amenities from the hotel. so I think this ism the reason why the front desk and some of their staff lacks of just serv. skills. mix of people ...... and locals that visit or are member of the club are the med high class of the country and treat staff like if they are slaves..... so part of the problem lays in that, they try..... talking about the front desk staff....... 4. other staffs, they think they know everything..... one thing that bothers the most is when someone is trying to cover a fault with an excuse that doesn't even make sense.... please don't BS a Bs'r. 5. Rooms: other than having a moist smell, they lack of insulation ( sound proofing) you can hear everything that is going on on the other room, and when I say everything, is EVERYTHING..... my 11 years old asked me if they were killing someone on the other room..... 6. ammeneeties and restaurant staff, very courteous, and pleasant tried to accommodate me as much as they could possible can...... 7. Staff at 8th floor. they have a cigar lounge up there and more of a pleasant view away from most locals that visit the facility...... 8. if you want to have a nice sleep try executive rooms. everything is different.... by the way THIS IS A VERY CHEAP ($$$$$$ WISE) HOTEL.

Hodelpa Caribe Colonial

Santo Domingo
Stayed here as part of a medical service trip to the DR so we had 6 rooms for one night each at the beginning and end of the trip. We were welcomed with a warmth that is typical for the DR but there were a couple of problems on initial check in. Note that, like many hotels, not all rooms have two double beds and this was an issue for us, since our volunteers share rooms. This took some time and resulted in four of us being walked to another, nearby Hodelpa. Note that, even if you reserve a specific type of room, it pays to double check availability if this is important. There is a small, well managed parking lot at the hotel but the emphasis is on small. If you arrive by car, as we did, they will take your keys so they can move cars in and out of the tight space. There is a pay to park parking lot a couple of blocks away should the hotel spaces be full. The cost for this is nominal. Reception is airy and comfortable, with places for people to sit whilst other members check in. Once checked in, the rooms are accessed via a stairwell or a tiny elevator that reminds me of those one finds in Parisian hotels of a certain age. No room for more than 3 people, fewer with luggage. Also, the stairs seem to finish on the third floor despite there being rooms on the 4th! When you reach the top of the stairs on the third floor, you need to turn right, and double back on your self to find the stairs that lead to the 4th. Trust me, this is not intuitive! The rooms are functional but clean and comfortable. The bed in which I slept allowed for a great night's sleep and all was quiet which is a boon in SD which can be someone noisy especially in the evenings. I am not sure all rooms would be similarly quiet, but the street on which the hotel sits is relatively peaceful despite its proximity to the colonial center. Breakfast is provided and was excellent indeed. Plenty of choice and well staffed. There is a small patio area outside which is the pick of the available places to eat breakfast I reckon. Good choice of hot and cold foods were offered. Upon check out we were charged for eating a packet of ”Cheese-Its” from the room, which we had not consumed. One of the most annoying things in a hotel is having to argue you had NOT done something, especially taking things from the minibar, which I almost never do due to the high price of said items. I hate it when hotels make these phantom charges and, frankly, it happens about 30-40% of the time in hotels and necessitates an argument where one has to prove oneself innocent. Tiresome, even if it is only a few dollars each time. However, I would stay here again, it is a great base for the colonial center and very good value too.

Incredibly friendly staff. From the check-in desk the serving staff at the hotel. I did not get every server's name the one gentleman really stuck out cannot remember his name young lookingbeard mustache very nice the other gentleman younger taller gentleman he was incredibly helpful I tried speaking Spanish he tried speaking English which is what I got from the serving staff here which was awesome. I do want to give a special shout out to Angelica Duarte she was there every day when I had breakfast and one time when I had lunch, she went above and beyond to be very friendly make sure everything I wanted I had within an expedient manner. The room was great the bed was super comfortable I actually was thankful it was an ironing board and iron in there because I needed it I haven't ironed anything in over 20 years. Bathroom was spacious the room was spacious. The pool was very nice as well they do have a nice little courtyard you can sit outside and eat or drink. Front desk staff was super helpful incredibly wonderful I had questions for them and they gave me honest answers. I wanted to run to convenience store to get Coca-Cola because there's no Coca-Cola here I asked the woman if I could walk there she said I would not recommend it it was also 12:30 a.m. . I took her advice and had a 7UP. The rest of the front staff on my stay from August 2nd to August 5th who I interacted with I cannot remember all their names I apologize for that but everyone was incredibly super friendly super helpful if my travels take me back to Santo Domingo Dominican Republic I will definitely consider staying here. The only suggestion I have please get Coca-Cola in here.

W&P Santo Domingo

Personalized service, excellent always with the client's best interest in mind. As the elevators are small, employees would get out of the elevator and walk up or down in order to follow Covid rules.. Breakfast buffet had a huge variety which slightly changed from day to day. Dinner menu is varried and the food fresh and well prepared. Premises are clean the room I had was spacious. Pool on the roof isn't anything to write home about but it's available. I personally found that pool/bar area a little tacky and the drink low quality and expensive. The gym area is outside the building and not the best. I used to stay at another big name hotel, I will go back to the W&P for sure. It was really good value.

This absolutely gorgeous hotel in Santo Domingo's historic colonial zone is the perfect home base for your visit to the Dominican Republic! The beds were comfortable (with very fine linens) and rooms were spacious, and the staff friendly, helpful and efficient. In particular we thought Hector the doorman/maletero, Clara at breakfast and Dilcia with security went above and beyond. Cannot remember the names of the lovely women at the front desk when we checked in, but they were also wonderful. The breakfast buffet was not only delicious, but there was a wide variety-something for everyone-without sacrificing several traditional Dominican breakfast foods (which we love and find are often left off hotel menus.) We even got a complimentary tour of the historic hotel and surrounds-the icing on the cake!

The location is a bit complicated because there is a lot of traffic, the hotel was fine, the room was fine but the gym was in very bad condition, it seemed that it was not working, everything was messy and the machines were very old and did not work well.
