We were only going for 4 nights but ended up staying 7 nights at Villa Matanai - Villa 1. Very relaxed place to unwind at. The staff we met and looked after us; Komang, Iluh, Kadek, and Madè were fantastic and helpful. Thanks Madè for the great gardens. The food was fresh, tasty, and we had no complaints at all. There are a few other places to eat, but we never tired of the food on the menu as there were enough choices for us. There is a Surf point Cafe, a short walk along the beach, where the food is also great, run by Madè. The rooms are spacious and clean. I surf, but you need a decent swell to get a good size wave. It's a chilled vibe and will definitely be back. Thanks, Vince & staff 😀

I wanted to give Villa Matanai all good reviews; but it was impossible, so I went shopping with a few travel companions during the day. It's A$45 from Sanur, with air conditioning and a knowledgeable driver. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Vinnie and Agung, who gave us cold homemade ginger beer to taste. Because Vinnie explained it to us in detail, we didn't encounter too much trouble. We held a massage session in the afternoon and took us directly to visit the soap and chocolate factory. The employees cooked delicious and "safe" food for us. I'm looking forward to watching the sunrise and wandering around there, and highly recommend visiting during the day.
