It was the best decision we made staying at Sultan Sands resort. The service was great. Facilities were clean, the food was spot on they had variety for everyone. The Manager Das, was very attentive to us and kind to reserve our table every night.

We enjoyed our time in Sultan Sands Island Resort, were we spent 11 unbelievable days! This is wonderful hotel, with an amazing tropical resort , but rooms are neded repair. Staff were amazing, friendly and attentive. Everyone was extremely helpful and kind. Whenever we needed something (such as informations or any questions ) everyone was exceptional. Special thanks to Fatma, who was always very kind and able to manage every situation. She really wanted to do their outmost to make our vacation the best and make us so happy. The beach is one of the best in Zanzibar: long and large with the perfect white sand. The beach is especially beatiful at hight tide, but when the water goes away, the picture is completely different, with lots of sea****. Variety of food and drinks even exceeded our expectation. Hotel entertainment really good! Every night there is DJ, or dancing crew, or a live band. We already miss our hotel so much! We'll come back, necessarily!!!!

Great location of the hotel nearly sitting on the beach is the biggest highlight! Room was clean and had everything you needed, no room service as advertised. With our all inclusive package we had accsess to free wii-fii,restaurant offering buffet style meals 3 times a day and 2 bars to use. In between meals there was a little snack table available with popcorn, cake, little bites to eat, coffee and tea… We found all this plus a helpful bunch of staff to assist us good enaugh to give a place 5 star, but we won’t. Twice we chose to order a’la carte and on both occassions we were overcharged!!!!!!!! The first time, I believe it could be just a genuine human error but I found the barman approch dealing with my enquiry very rude, it was sorted at the end. The second time we were paying at the reception during check out, given a price in dollars displayed on the calculator pointing in my face!!! It was $37 no bill or any form of paper receipt, so I question that. It took 15 min to get the bill for 2 club sandwiches, sprite and a glass of wine. The total was $28, when I asked why they wanted 37 before I have been told to chill and Hakuna Matata! So folks watch your spendings and the currency rate exchanged as the hotel has their own one and is different that the National Bank of Tanzania.

I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. The staff were all, without exception, absolutely amazing. The food was delicious for every meal and the rooms fabulous. If you want. 25 star hotel experience I strongly suggest you visit Sultan Sands.

The Resort is very very beautiful and we head great stay. In the Rooms everything was perfect. My wife and me really really loved the buffet and the staff. They were so friendly and helpfull and always had a smile in their face. Especially Rose and Sophia will always stay in our mind because of their kindness and profesionality. The Breakdance show in the evening was my personal highlight.

We travelled here from the UK in Feb 24 as a couple. The hotel is a lovely friendly place and the rooms are lovely and cold with excellent air con and very clean. The setting is beautiful with greenary and the beach, The staff are helpful and super kind. The wifi was very hit and miss but this isnt a major issue for us, we were on holiday :-) We did have an issue on the first night but after chasing management they did sort it and we were happy with that. Happy on the beach bar, is her names sake - happy, friendly and always remembers you she is amazing. Adam was a beach porter and very friendly chatty and very helpful. There was entertainment every night - a little repetative but non the less it was on - the guys worked very hard. The guests are mainly polish and had great fun There alot of beach traders - whilst they didnt bother me (we all need to make a living) just to be aware there are alot but very friendly. My MAIN issue sadly was the restaurant / food area. Its not an enclosed area so as the nights humidity sets in you can be sat dining in some serious serious heat. The second downfall with it being 'outside' dining is ALL the flies/wasps all over the uncovered food ( salads/ deserts / breads etc) The food was very much same same every night and super small portions you have to ask for more which can feel a little embarrasing ( well thats just me). My husband and I sadly had an upset stomach for 3 weeks. I feel this could be easily sorted if the dining area was inside - thus stopping all the flies and wasps and comffortable eating tempertaures. Just my opinion. Id give this hotel 4stars as its stunning if the restaurant was sorted its would definately be 5star plus.

Sultan Sands is a nice hotel in African style. Food was mostly the same choice. Rooms were nice and cool. Friendly staff. Beautiful garden. Most of the hotelguests are Polish/Russian. If you want a beach bed in the shadow you have to set your alarm at 06:00.

Lovely beach and location with amazing turquoise water and white sand * Good variety of Food throughout stay but a bit similar over the course of two weeks Reception staff All staff welcoming and friendly Deluxe rooms are a good size with comfortable bed Sun bed Waiter service Not so good Internet access in our room was poor , not too bad elsewhere. We ended up having a network put into our room which was kind of the IT manager. Choice of AI drinks limited, white wine is rough. Only filtered coffee is available in the restaurant, if you want a nice Latte for example you have to pay for it, same if you want one in the morning or during the day. Cold plates in restaurant constantly Food not always hot Misleading restaurant situation at sister hotel ,while you can use blue bay hotel facilities it costs 10 USD per person if you want one drink there or a coffee . Normal buffet meal is 10USD and Al La Carte is pay as you go. So in effect there is only one free restaurant as part of your AI package in both hotels. Lack of Parasol availability at hotel, all gone by 7am. There are only twelve available for the whole hotel. Seven around the sandy area before the beach and five around the pool. You won’t get one around the beach area (which we thought was the nicest area) unless you’re prepared to get up at 6.45 am and reserve one. Otherwise you can ask the pool boys to reserve you one and pay them for the privilege (be bribed) when you choose to go to your sun-bed. The irony is if if you choose not to bung the pool attendants to reserve a sun bed with a parasol, there would not be the need to get up at 0645. !! After two weeks the menu seemed pretty much the same No AI facilities after 10am when checking out, you have to pay for meals and drinks. Having to dodge hawkers on the beech whenever you went on it or in the sea Mozzies can be bad in reception, I got badly bitten on my first day.

Friendly and helpful staff (reception, restaurant, beach, housekeeping, it and security), though had to remind a couple of times of a broken lampbulb and the wifi which did not work as promised, in the room/balcony. Couldn't be fixed. A great selection of cold and hot dishes for breakfast and a theme every night for dinner eg arabian, italian, zanzibar and bbq. Live music and dance groups for entertainment every night during dinner. Helpful beachstaff sorting sunbeds and matresses. Locals try to take contact all the time on the beach to try to deal and sell you stuff. Over all a strong 4 (out of 5) will be the judgement. Hakuna Matata
