Ocean Paradise Resort & Spa

After a 6 night safari in Kenya we were looking forward to our 5 nights in Zanzibar to chill and we were not disappointed. we arrived late at night and were taken to our room 103 , I opened the curtains in the morning to the most beautiful sunrise right in front of me it totally blew me away and from that the moment I didn't want to leave . The resort is beautiful and kept very clean . All the staff were friendly , Reception was a bit disorganised but don't let that put you off. If you struggle with stairs I would say this isn't the resort for you even though they do have a few slopes , I personally loved the layout with all the different levels and little places to sit to enjoy a drink or some quiet time Each night there was a different theme for the food and we enjoying this. The pool was lovely and each day I took part in the water Zumba class which was good fun I didn't venture onto the main beach but stayed on the private part of beach which was beautiful with white sand . I would love to come back again one day

Wonderful architecture incredible entertainment at meal times and everyone so welcoming with the exception of Scott from Scotland who apparently heads up the catering team. Over our 6 day stay he made no attempt to engage with us and on our last night there wasn’t a table left to sit us at- what did Scott do? He left us standing in the middle of the restaurant and up to his staff to source an additional table, lay it up, wedge us closely between other guests and sort everything out. He also berated one of his team in public and told them that he had a long memory.... if conversations like that are necessary conduct them professionally away from customers. Having been in customer services and hospitality this is the worst manager I have ever seen. His staff are amazing despite him and so polite and smiling! Great place - wonderful atmosphere and will definitely return - once Scott has been re-assigned elsewhere!

Ocean Paradise Resort & Spa in Zanzibar is an absolute gem, providing guests with an unforgettable experience. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted with warm hospitality, and the atmosphere is filled with tranquility and beauty. Let me specifically highlight Scott from Scotland, who truly went above and beyond to ensure guests' well-being. His attention to detail, kindness, and sense of humor made the entire stay extra special. Scott had a fantastic way of interacting with everyone, from children to older guests. He was always present, helpful, and infectiously positive. In addition I must mention; Aisha and her female assistent, the breakfast, lunch and dinner teams. Especially the pregnant waiter, the towel guys and the fitness instructor Mathias. Not to forget the tall beach bar man. You are all fantastic. We visited the SPA three times, thanks also goes to the two SPA-ladies. Great experience. Ocean Paradise Resort & Spa offers luxurious rooms, exquisite cuisine, and a stunning beachfront location. It's a place where you can unwind, enjoy the sunset, and indulge yourself. Thank you, all, for making our stay so memorable! All of you are true stars and a credit to the hotel. We look forward to returning and experiencing this paradise oasis again.

This hotel complex is just beautiful but what makes it a superb place for a relaxing holiday is the staff and the food. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff who smile all the time and the food, whilst buffet style, was varied and of excellent quality. A special mention to Scott and Ajit who went the extra mile to ensure our every need was catered for. Thank you both so much.

Fabulous stay at Ocean Paradise. Amazing location - our room overlooked the sea and we saw the most beautiful sunrises. What made the place particularly special were the staff. Without exception all incredibly friendly, helpful and utterly charming. Big thanks to ‘Scott from Scotland’ who went out of his way to ensure we had a great time - a great character and lots of fun. Also Aisha, who was lovely, super-helpful and really made us feel welcome The other stand-out was the food. Different themes each night but always exceptionally good. Thoroughly recommended!

We spent 2 weeks at Ocean Paradise and are more than happy we chose this resort which basically is direclty at the beach. The bungalows, lobby, restaurants, interieur, even the sunbeds are have a very authentic style (wood, palm leafs, etc.) and complement the very well maintained site, the colourful garden and its many palmtrees perfectly. The staff (waiters, chefs, animation team, cleaning team, gardeners, spa, reception, security & management) is super friendly, always willing to help and definitely succeeds in making your vacation unforgettably great. Everyone seems to love working there and is happy when the guests are so. The food is amazing and of high quality - for dinner there‘s always a motto like bbq, indian, italian, swahili, asian and always exceptional live cooking (e.g. Stuffed Naan made in an original tandoori grill - can highly recommend to try this). You will find delicious, local, exotic fruits at breakfast and at dinner. Traveling as a couple, we were not looking for a place with 24/7 animation & all day loud music and also regarding this, Ocean paradise was perfect for us. They offer a few activities that you can join if you‘d like to (the village tour is a must if you‘d like to find out more about how locals live), there‘s billard, ping pong, beach volleyball, aqua fitness and a gym. At the spa, they offer great wellness treatments and massages as well as programs incl. Sauna, Hamam, peeling/scrubs, shower, face mask, massage and jacuzzi - we did the African program and can highly recommend it. Although we were there during everyone‘s summer vacation and the resort was at least for some days in full use of its capacity (about 200 guests) we never felt like it was super crowded or full as there‘s enough space. We always found free sunbeds at the spacious, fenced beach area. In that area one can get good rest and is not exposed to the beach boys and massai who start talking to tourists as soon as they leave the hotel area to sell things from their shops (this happens to guests of any hotel). We can highly recommend a reef tour with 1 or 2 massai to see some marine wild life (don‘t forget shoes to protect your feet from sea urchins and other spiky creatures). We did not have one mosquito bite (did not really see mosquitos at all) but used „Anti Brumm tropical“ outside in the dark and felt very safe with the mosquito net that is being unfurled by housekeeping team during dinner time. All in all, we didn‘t miss anything, expectations were exceeded and we would love to come back one day!

Stayed there with daughter and two grandsons after a safari in Tanzania. We liked just about everything. The accommodation was very good, although we thought they could have put us in adjacent rooms, as we are family. The food selection was excellent, with various themes for dinner every evening. The boys enjoyed the nice swimming pool and playing volleyball in the afternoon. Because of the big tidal differences, it was not so good for swimming in the sea, but we enjoyed an interesting reef walk with the hotel staff and the local Masai. There is also plenty’s of excursions to go on. The staff was very attentive, and most of them knew our names after the first day, and always asked how we were doing. As I had suffered an injury to my arm on safari, I had good help from the guest relations office, obtaining some wound dressing. Also, curtesy of the hotel, a nurse came to change my dressing several times. Thank you so much. All in all we had a wonderful time.

If you feel like enjoying your beach vacation like it was in the 90s, then this is the place to be: From the outdated furniture, the mechanical door locks, the brown shower tiles, to the blown out speakers of the animation team, you get an authentic feeling. If you are tired of digital signatures, then this will give you a great possibility to sign an endless amount of pointless bills over Zero Dollars, if you are in an all-inclusive package. Instead of contactless payments or even wristbands identifying you as an all-inclusive customer, you need to sign for every transaction at the pool, lunch, and dinner adding everyone your name and room number. The staff is basically friendly. The sandy beach is nice if one discounts the hustlers. The sunchairs at the beach have one setting only and sunchairs at the pool are hard as rock. The food is good, but grilled food is typically well done aka chewy. The room cleaning does a good job. I would rate this hotel a 3 🌟 at the best.
