Asakusa Central Hotel

Ueno/Asakusa Tokyo|0.2km from Kaminarimon Gate
I just spent 5 nights in a single room at their main building. I love the location and how it is close to everything in Asakusa. The room was soundproofed so I didn't get the street noise. The housekeeping was done by lovely elderly ladies who leave a bag of neatly folded towels and pyjamas at your door if you have a 'do not disturb' sign out. I didn't sleep very well as the duvet was a little dirty. They use a main duvet and line it with a bedsheet on its underside which means they don't wash the duvet and change only the sheet during room service. I found dust and hairs on the duvet so I requested for extra sheets to put between myself and the duvet. The management should seriously reconsider their bedding, especially for guests who are allergic/sensitive to dust. The front desk staff were helpful enough. Oddly, they refused my request to make a table reservation for a restaurant. I approached 2 staff members and they were adamant about not providing this service to guests. Finally, after much persuasion, I managed to get a lady to very reluctantly make a call to the restaurant. It was a very strange policy. I wish to thank a front desk staff - a young, bespectacled man- who assisted me in booking a taxi on 28 Jan, around 10:45pm and very very kindly took the trouble to take my luggage out in the pouring rain for the taxi. Overall, my one and only complaint is the bedding. Otherwise, I had a good experience and the location can't be beat.

I used the room ”Sakura” on the top floor with my friends. There was only one ”Sakura” room on the top floor, so it was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The room was equipped with both a mattress and a bed, and the latest TV was available, such as Youtube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. There is a veranda in the room, and you can go around half a lap, and you can see Nakamise, Tokyo Sky Tree, Kaminarimon and Asakusa, and by extension, famous places in Japan. It was said that the Sumida River Fireworks Festival can be seen well in the summer. I have been to Asakusa several times before, but this time I stayed at this hotel and was able to rediscover a new ”Asakusa”. I thought of such a hotel where you can have a very valuable and wonderful experience. I would definitely like to use it again.

My recent stay at THE GATE HOTEL ASAKUSA was a blend of adventurous exploration and varied service. While the hotel offered a unique experience, it had its ups and downs that left me with mixed feelings. Arriving at THE GATE HOTEL ASAKUSA from the subway proved to be quite a challenge, as the distance and limited transportation options made it difficult to access, especially with luggage in tow. However, once I finally reached the hotel, the awe-inspiring rooftop view and surroundings compensated for the arduous journey. The staff at THE GATE HOTEL ASAKUSA were a mixed bag. Some were courteous and friendly, making me feel welcomed, while others seemed disinterested and impolite, dampening the overall experience. The front desk personnel were efficient, but their warmness varied from one individual to another.

I stayed in a room with a train simulator, which was happy for rail fans. The ”train simulator real thing” used for the crew training of TOBU railway is installed in the room. The guests can use it freely from 3 p.m. to 10 a.m. the next day. The real feeling that can manipulate the real thing was amazing and I operated it at night and spared my sleep. This room has only one room, one night, one person with breakfast, and 20000 yen. On the way back, you can get a T-shirt printed on the face of the TOBU train as a souvenir.

If you live alone, you will feel that the room is very big, the bathroom is not big, but it is very clean! I also prepared a yukata! Super cool! The location is right next to Sensoji Temple, which is very suitable for solo travel.

The grandfather at the reception was very enthusiastic, but unfortunately did not take time to soak a hot spring at the hotel. Parents with children can choose two people - I go with a five-year-old child without asking for a quilt and do not ask for additional money. The location of the hotel is quite convenient, and the surrounding area also buys medicine and makeup. When the subway station is gone, the shallow grass line is clearly defined. And Ginza line, recommended
