Hotel Soa

Due to covid restrictions my planned 5 day visit turned into a 10 day stay due to flight availability from Ireland, I was In Zabljak for the Blacklake extreme triathlon and Hotel Soa was in the perfect location just outside the entrance to the Durmitor national park and the Blacklake itself. Check in was quick and painless and you’ll have to forgive as I now forget the staff names but the girl was very pleasant and explained all I needed to know, the sauna and steam room was free for 1hr every day and was a super surprise and used most days by me. For the first few days I ate in the town until the race organiser prompted me to try the hotel, I was reluctant at first as they tend to be bland and over priced, but it was great advice, so good I only ventured into town once more and only because I wanted pizza after the race, the waiting staff were very attentive sometimes a little to much but that’s not really a negative, the menu was mostly European with a few Montenegrin dishes and I went through most of it with no complaints. At a price that matches the cafes and restaurants in town a quality that was better I was more than happy to dine at the hotel. The one bed apartment I had was to the side with a partial view to the mountains and got the sun for most of the day, It was perfect for me as most days after training I had a wash to do and dry so wet suit and training kit was hung out to dry not really an option if I’d a room to the front. It was very comfortable and cleaned daily I’d describe it as compact but if three people were sharing it’d be a bit tight but not impractical. Toilet was clean and shower was a great size with one of those huge shower heads, kitchenette was small and two ring hob wasn’t used, I’d planned on cooking for myself but when I found out how cheap it was to eat in I didn’t bother dinner with a beer and glass of wine for roughly €20 was a win win. The reception staff were brilliant very friendly and always made an effort to say bye when I left and a nice warm greeting when I returned and willing and able to answer any of my questions and suggest things to do on my free time, the zip line over the Tara bridge was a great recommendation, when I left for home I left a couple of boxes of chocolates as a small thank you as I felt so so welcome and made to feel at home. I hope to make a return visit to Zabljak some day and without giving a second thought I’ll book Hotel Soa I enjoyed my stay that much and I have no problem in recommending it to fellow travellers.

Casa di Pino Eco Lodge

We really loved this hotel so much. It had the cutest ambiance and really good energy from the onset. It is new and modern but with all of the mountain life look and feel. We were a little nervous about accommodations in the area as online a lot of places look very dated and now that we have been we notice the area is growing so rapidly and many new accommodations are being built as the area has grown in popularity. We loved this hotel and the staff. Our room was so cute and clean and comfortable. The staff were so insanely helpful and kind. The breakfast included was elevated, personal and very cute. Highly recommend giving these folks a visit! We are American travelers and they spoke fantastic English.

Having booked a non-refundable rate via Booking.com months in advance we were really looking forward to visiting Durmitor National Park, it definitely didn’t disappoint and we were glad we picked this accommodation to stay at. Although we didn’t eat anywhere local we simply bought food from the nearby Aroma supermarket which was really cheap. Bathroom was probably the biggest let down, the washing machine was fairly old and didn’t work very well and the shower doors didn’t close properly so it ended up being more of a wet room. At night it is sandwiched between 2 roads so it depends on how much traffic goes by in relation to how much noise you encounter. It’s a beautiful place but could do with a good deep clean. We would also recommend some sort of fan, we weren’t able to leave the door open because of the bugs so the first night I barely slept.
