It's good, but far from Teruel. You can't walk to the city, unless you go on the road. The room very good. The dinner service was a little strange: the drinks were brought out confused, and the first courses too...

Nice room but a bit dated. Restaurant is really mediocre. Too expensive for what is offered.

Nice parador situated at an ideal position to visit the beautiful town of Teruel. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. Restaurant staff needs additional training on how to serve dinner; Paradors in Olite and Cardona did a much better job. The quality of the dinner served could be improved.

Being an Amigos card holder, which offers some benefits when staying at the Spanish Paradors, I booked one of my intended stays at Parador of Teruel directly with the central reservations at the Paradores website. It was made clear that the booking was not refundable. I was driving through Europe with my 87 year old Mother on this trip. Unfortunately, she did not bring sufficient heart tablets and so, I changed dates for bookings on our journey at all Hotels in Spain and France, which was a simple matter other than when it came to the Parador which I had booked directly. Having reached the central reservations by telephone, there was nobody who spoke English (or so I was told). I found this odd and having checked with another Parador, they confirmed that there is always someone who speaks several languages at central reservations, given that so many non-Spanish speakers stay at their Paradores. Google translate in hand, I explained the situation briefly of why I wished to amend the date of travel and not cancel my booking, for the 2 rooms which I had booked. They asked me to wait whilst they contacted the Parador in Teruel to request a date change. The reply was a plain NO, not possible; due to the fact that this was a non-refundable booking. I checked online for the dates I wanted to change to and could see that there were 2 rooms available; meaning the Parador was clearly not fully booked. No refund, no courtesy, no flexibility. Lost money for 2 rooms. Please heed this as a warning not to book directly with central reservations, as it could lead to unnecessary financial losses. It will be a while before I consider staying at a Parador again, as this experience has left me with a very bitter aftertaste.

What a fantastic property, for years i’ve ignored the Paradores- no idea why. Great value, great staff and amazing properties. This is the best solution to keep these properties in good stead to be enjoyed for future generations. Paradores for me from now on.

Property itself was nice, lots of parking for free, no surcharge as advertised on the website, which is misleading. We had problems checking in as we didn’t have a booking voucher, which the receptionist asked for. The room itself was basic, no tea/coffee making facilities, tv had limited channels, as half of them didn’t work.

Modern Parador 2 km outside town. Rooms well equipped and property is in very good condition. Plenty of parking. Restaurant generally pretty good and service excellent. Teruel is a very interesting place!

This is the second Parador I stayed in while in Spain. As it is another Parador, my review will be very similar to my review of another Parador I posted, because the pros and cons are the same. The hotel, a former palace, is just beautiful, with several very large common sitting rooms on the ground level. My room was great - large and comfortable, with a beautiful, updated, and well-appointed and well-functioning bathroom. There is a large stone veranda off the dining area on the ground level, which could be a wonderful place to sit for an drink outside. All that being said, here are the problems I have with this Parador in particular, and other Paradors (government-owned and -run hotels) in general: It is run like, and reminds me of, the old hotels I used to stay in the Soviet Union. The beautiful outdoor area was closed for no explicable reason. Not tables to sit at on a beautiful day when you want to be outside. The television (in both Paradors) didn't work. The bartender in the bar was overworked, doing two jobs from what I saw, and wasn't always at the bar to serve us. He was working alone, and had to work the bar and serve the diners in the dining room. Getting a drink was impossible. Dinner was in a beautiful, large dining room; but the lights - all the lights - were all turned up to a violently high level, so it was like eating in a warehouse. The server told me the lights couldn't be dimmed, they just turn on or off. The food service and presentation was better here than the other Parador, but not by much. Breakfast is not available until 8:00 am, so if you have an early departure, you can forget about breakfast or even coffee. Yes, you can't even get coffee until 8:00. It was clear that the hotel is understaffed and the ones that were working were doing double, even triple duty. I can't complain about them, I felt bad for their huge work load. They looked exhausted, but made an effort to be cheerful and helpful. The general feeling I had of the hotel was apathy for the guests and their needs. "Do just enough to keep the place running." Lastly, this hotel is not close to town. We were told it was a 30 minute walk, but it was more like 45 minutes. The hotel offers no shuttle service to the town and back. This hotel is beautiful and has so much potential. It could be a marvelous hotel with just a few changes and a little more effort. But like the USSR, attention to detail, servicing the guests and their needs beyond their room is non-existent.
