As an American business traveler, this is probably the best hotel that I’ve stayed at in Shaoxing. I’ve stayed here repeatedly over the past 5 years or so. The hotel staff is friendly and can accommodate most of your needs if you are new to China or the city. They also have one of the best dinner buffets that is affordable with a wide variety of cuisines and all you can drink beer.

The room is clean, and there is a retractable clothesline in the bathroom, which is very practical. There is a small football field on the roof across the road outside the window. There is a group of primary school students playing football. It seems that they are very good at utilizing the space. Pictures 7 and 8 are of the hotel building taken while standing on the steps of the subway exit, very close to each other on foot. The hotel seems to cater to a lot of international travelers. They have English and Japanese TV channel. The view from the room is better at night. The staff was nice and polite. One of the servers (Faith Dai) during breakfast was very attentive. She sat us at nice table in the corner and got us each a latte before we went to the breakfast buffet. She even offered get us a portion of fruit to go. Overall, it was pleasant stay at clean hotel in a cute little city.

Got there around CNY eve, so things were a bit on the quiet side. Parking was a bit chaotic at first with cars parked all along the entrance, it was not clear where to park until I went inside and asked. Check in was quick and to my pleasent surprise the checkin agent Gary spoke English very well. He was extemely helpful and and accomodating. He even explained that breakfast would be included because of CNY. The hotel was very clean, room was clean. The hotel is at a very good location, central to many important areas in Shaoxing. Breakfast was good and the staff very friendly. Check out was simple and the overnight parking fee was taken care by the hotel. Overall, the hotel has the quality, look and feel that you would expect from a Holiday Inn brand hotel. Would definitely recommend and will rebook in the future. Many families with kids too. Please note if traveling around CNY, certain restaurants etc may be closed for the holiday.

I have been to Shaoxing several times, but this is the first time I stayed at the Shaoxing Hotel. It’s a state-level hotel that has hosted many leaders. There are several garden landscapes in the hotel. As soon as you arrive at the entrance of the lobby, you will be amazed by the pavilions and pavilions opposite. There will be more surprises if you stroll around slowly. Upgraded to Building 8, it is great to have an automatic toilet at this price. You can see the Feiyi Tower on Fushan Mountain. Master Lu Xingsong, who took me to the room, was very enthusiastic. He helped me carry my luggage and introduced the nearby and Shaoxing travel recommendations. The hotel is in a very strategic location, next to Cangqiao Zhi Street and Xi Xiaolu Street. It is highly recommended to visit Fushan Park. Autumn is extremely beautiful. The flying wing tower on the top of the mountain can overlook the colorful Shaoxing in autumn. It is 2km away from Lu Xun’s hometown. You can walk there and take a taxi very quickly. What I'm not used to is that breakfast ends too early. It ends at 9:30, so I really can't get up early.

We booked a double bed room, and the front desk upgraded it to an executive king bed. The breakfast was average. The room is small, less than 30 square meters. The decoration is old and the exterior windows are dusty. The facilities are old and there are stains on the lampshades of the desk lamps. There are pictures to prove it. There are external coaches teaching swimming to children in the swimming pool. Some water boards are floating in the pool without anyone taking care of them. The coach’s glass water cup is placed on the edge of the pool, which is a safety hazard. The coach is doing it to make money, so there is a conflict with the hotel guests. A very quiet homestay. I didn’t hear any noise all night. I woke up naturally in the morning and slept very well. Located on the 18th floor so take advantage of the convenience store to the right before you get on the elevator. Beautiful bright rooms, amazingly comfy mattress, nice flooring, big windows that take advantage of the elevation, smart TV, fast wifi and I like that the outlets beside the bed don’t require the key near the door: it’s easy to charge electronics when you’re out. Staff was great. Lots of Hellobikes in front. As for the negatives, this place badly needs robot butlers as I got sick of fetching my deliveries from the lobby. Only a toothbrush kit and comb for dry amenities. Breakfast was unimpressive but cheap. No coffee at breakfast. Overall I thought this place offered good value despite its downfalls and I’d recommend it.

The Oriental Grand hotel is part of a complex which includes 3 theme parks. One indoor mountain park, one indoor water park, and one large outdoor theme park. The parks were fun for our toddler. Call in advance to see which parts of the park are open/closed for the season. The hotel and facilities are designed for kids, so expect lots of them to be around! We stayed for 3 nights during the October Golden Week but the hotel was not overly busy, nor was the theme park. The breakfast was solid with mostly Chinese options but Western options as well. We enjoyed both the breakfast and the buffet dinner. Other food options in the area are quite limited, and the food in the parks is pretty poor. We were a 20-40 minute taxi ride away from other major attractions in the city, like Daxianglin and the giant buddha, as well as some of the ancient towns. The rooms were clean and new, and we had an excellent view of the nightly fireworks show from the main theme park, even from the bathtub! The rooms were quiet at night and the blackout curtains allowed everyone to sleep in. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Overall I would recommned this hotel to people seeking quiet and comfort during a theme-park trip.
