Sanya Haitang District 5-star Hotels

I wouldn’t stay here again. It’s not worth it. In my 5+ years of living in China and using Trip.com, this is the first time I’ve ever written a poor review. I should start by saying that the staff are incredibly courteous, just mostly incompetent. Out of the staff, there was only Vito, who was kind and prompt with check-in and follow up. Everyone else who works there of course has a very difficult job, and while they had a few mistakes here and there, I understand that 端午节 can be a very busy time of year. In those cases, the manager Brian was very kind to try and help resolve them. However, overall the hotel has policies in place that are just unacceptable. Firstly, after checking in I was told that there would be a music festival happening right next to the hotel. So for 2 days, I had to listen to nonstop EDM through the afternoon and night. It was so bad that my room would literally vibrate with the music until midnight. If I had been warned of this ahead of time, I would have chosen another place. But instead they chose the sneaky route and did not say anything until I had already paid the deposit and was in the room. So shady. Secondly, Trip.com lists this place as having an “exclusive beach area” but there was nothing of the sort. There IS a path to the beach, but on the way there you will come across a sign that says it is in no way linked to Shangri-La. There are a small amount of beach chairs out there, but again, they say this isn’t their property so I was worried the whole time that I was intruding. In addition, it’s still quite a bit of a walk, so remember to bring all your own things (water, towel, snacks, etc) because getting back to the property will take some time. Also, the area does not permit swimming. That is of course something they cannot control, but if you are hoping to swim in the ocean, this will disappoint you. Thirdly, breakfast was a mess. I am fully aware that things are different over a holiday, but they couldn’t fit everyone in the restaurant so they had to set up an additional “breakfast area” that had about half the choices—and then shove you away in this little crowded ballroom. I learned the second day that there was a patio option with no wait, and I actually had wanted to sit outside anyway, but no one told me this was available. Even then, I had to ask for my own cutlery (they gave me a children’s set), they did not wipe down the tables, and no one paid any attention to me until I finally showed some frustration. Fourth, the place is very much geared towards families. This place has the most “children-friendly” resources out of every Sanya hotel I’ve stayed in, and if you are a parent this is of course great. However, if you are looking for a quiet retreat, I recommend you look somewhere far far away. For my entire stay, I had to deal with screaming kids and their louder-screaming parents (two families got in a screaming match at the pool, and no one did anything except stare). It is definitely something to be aware of when planning your stay. Honestly, I wanted to spend as little time at the property as possible. It was just too frustrating, too loud, too disorganized, and a waste of my money. This place is taking advantage of the name “Shangri-La” to overcharge you.

Grace did a great job as butler for our stay at Atlantis Sanya Hotel. We are very happy with her service. Hotel amenities were fantastic, and customer service went above and beyond when we had issues with the air conditioning in our room. We will certainly stay again!

Service and food are very good, in our opinion best restaurant is Egret. Swimming pools are beautiful and temperature perfect. Also sandy beach in nice. Only cons, you cannot swim in the sea.

Let's start with the positive, the pool is amazing, and the service was good. The hotel grounds are well-kept. The navigators (concierge +) were able to accommodate our requests and were at the front desk to answer most queries. Food and service at the Thai restaurant (Star Fish Market) were good, but not quite sure why a slogan is pasted, at eye level, on the windows/doors obstructing the view of the beach when seated for dinner. Red Star Cafe All Day Dining restaurant was only open for breakfast. Breakfast was ok, the restaurant was very busy and dishes were Chinese cuisine forward. Star Fish Bar was closed, also the swim-up bar. Spa is closed.The lounge/lobby bar was not inviting and had barely any guests during our stay. Having four soft-toy vending machines and a sausage stall at the entrance does not entice guests to relax and enjoy a drink. For us, it was a comfortable base to explore the rest of Sanya from.

We stayed 3 nights in Sheraton with kind support by manager, Nico. Before check-in, she called me to confirm special requestments, and, while we were staying, requests of my family are well accepted. Especially, when temperature of the room was not easily controllable, Nico confirmed an other room to move as fast as she could. I really appreciate her. 3박 하는 동안 Nico 라는 분이 전반적인 사항들을 잘 챙겨주셔서 잘 지냈습니다. 특히, 체크인 했을때, 방의 온도 조절이 잘 안 되었는데, 옮길 수 있는 방을 빨리 알아봐 주셨습니다. Overall, All breakfast and Barbecue in Sheraton were so good. There are a lot of restaurants near Sheraton. Pools were so much fun for children.

Sofitel has outstanding facilities. I selected the hotel specifically because of the activities that are build around younger children 4-9 yrs. There is a daily schedule for kids including cooking, go kart introduction sessions, foam party at the kids pool. For the fancy things you will have to pay e.g. Kayaking at the pool. We had a room with direct pool access which was the most used feature of the holiday by the young ones. The are several pools including an infinity pool closer direction beach. No swimming area at the beach. So don’t expect a dip into the sea. We stayed either at our room with direct pool access or at the main pool next to the children’s play and pool area. Three slides at the kids area including one with tubes only for children) Breakfast is excellent! I blame it for gaining weight. Plus you can get food till 11am. Big plus The restaurants at the hotel are very good. One Thai and one Chinese. But not really an every day option for me. Basic dishes start at ard 100 RMB and a Beef Curry ist at 170 RMB. No IPA or Craft beer on the beer list. Location is “only” 4 out of 5. There’s nothing within walking distance of the hotel. No restaurant, no bar or anything. So if you wanna go anywhere plan 30-60 min commuting by Didi / Taxi. Overall a fantastic stay and a big thank you to Nikki. She did a great job as experience manager at Sofitel and is a huge help if you are struggling with Chinese topics.

The hotel is definitely great as the location is quite ideal and its proximity to popular tourist activities like aquaventure water park, several nature parks makes it quite convenient. The rooms are quite huge and as a family we had a great space to stay. The hotel has a variety of meals to choose from and is served quite promptly. Many staff are quite responsible and helpful in navigating the hotel and under its procedures. There was a delay a little bit when we requested for extra soap but this I believe may have been just one case. I highly recommend the hotel for anyone visiting Sanya and would like to enjoy and explore what Haitiang bay.

The hotel rooms are clean and tidy, and the suites are large and suitable for the whole family. There are not many breakfast options, but the Western restaurant on the first floor can eat outdoors and enjoy the mountain view. The green area in the courtyard is large, with a wide variety of trees, which is very beautiful. The swimming pool is also very beautiful. It is clean, but there are not many people swimming in this season. It is said that the water temperature is more suitable at two or three o'clock in the afternoon. There are many small animals in the cute pet paradise, and there are also a few deer and horses raised outdoors, which is very suitable for parent-child vacation.

First day check-in was a bit tough as I arrived early in the morning. Room was ready 2 PM. Room didn’t meet my “clean” expectation, so I had to ask for second round of cleaning. I understand it was busy weekend & so many guests to take care of. For this part, Manager Davidson Dong was very helpful! I got room cleaned around 7 PM and he helped me using the Club Lounge in the mean time. Because the trip is for my birthday, the hotel also provided birthday cake & the rose bed. Hotel gym was nice & spacious - but didn’t have smith machine. Beach seems like ‘not’ private exclusive beach - without sun bed - but public without lifeguard. I could fly a drone at the beach, but not in the garden of the hotel - for guest privacy reasons. Overall, it was an amazing experience here at Grand Hyatt. Thank you.

Rosewood Sanya was life changing! I’m familiar with Rosewood Guangzhou so I had high expectations and Rosewood Sanya exceeded those expectations! I was happy to receive the free gifts from Trip.com and Rosewood Sanya which included a free room upgrade, free daily minibar and snacks, 5 photos for 1 hour in the hotel, tropical seasonal fresh fruit and sweet Wenchang young coconut, morning yoga class, daily themed children’s class experience and cdf Hainan VIP 85-95% discount! The staff was incredible! Santos made sure I was well taken care of and also gave me a beautiful tour of the hotel! He was very patient! The hotel photographer was very professional and helped me with a lot of my model poses. The pictures came out so great that I bought 15 additional photos! The hotel is extremely beautiful and the beach view along with the infinity pool made the stay perfect! The pancakes, waffles and salmon were extremely delicious! Dinner at Chophouse was perfect and the atmosphere is rich! I can’t wait to return!
