DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront

I have been staying here for all my trips to Perth this year. This is a really beautiful hotel with large rooms which give me enough space to practise yoga. The room comes with a very functional open wardrobe. Bathrobes are provided in all rooms, not just the premier ones, so this is a nice touch. The view of the swan river during breakfast and from the restaurant on the 18th floor is unbeatable. Do check out their lunch specials.

I am not one for complaining and have always been a very understanding customer, however, our most recent experience is something I feel needs to be rectified or at least expressed for improvement purposes. After attempting to contact Mont Clare Boutique Apartments in regards to a possible cancellation, we were told that due to booking through a third-party, we would need to directly contact them and seek cancellation refunding (a US number). After doing so, the third-party business was extremely understanding of our unforeseen personal medical situation BUT informed us it was actually Mont Clare Boutique Apartments that had the overarching decision and they would email a cancellation request on our behalf. I then followed up and rang Mont Clare again and explained the situation, to which I was told “Ok not a problem.” But upon receiving the email request, Mont Clare staff proceeded to decline our cancellation. With not being able to afford to lose out on a large chunk of money, we proceeded with our stay. Travelling 3.5 hours from the country, we made sure to arrive within the stated Reception hours of “Monday - Thursday 9.00am - 7:00pm, Friday 9.00am - 6am (Sat Morning), Saturday 9:00am to 6am Sunday Morning and Sunday and Public Holidays 9.00 am - 2.30pm” as stated on BOTH their website AND their front door. However, reception was closed and we were unable to contact the emergency number. Luckily for a helpful patron that instructed us on how to check-in, we managed to get ourselves and 18-month-old inside. When we got to our room, the air conditioner was on but doing nothing, so we proceeded to turn it to the lowest temperature and highest setting where it remained for the duration of our stay, doing nothing. We had to purchase a fan in order for our daughter to be able to sleep. Our instruction paperwork also stated that the pool was out of order and we would need to use the one across the road at the Aldernay and upon using the Gym, every piece of equipment was broken except for the treadmill (two things I booked this accommodation for and that I believe should have been refunded or rectified more professionally). The next day we discovered the television remote volume buttons weren’t working, so I rang Reception, at which point I was told “Well if the channels work its not the remote, can’t you just use the buttons on the TV instead of the remote?”. Other issues we found that we did not contact Reception about were stained and ripped carpets and couches, broken cupboards in the kitchen and bathroom, stove and oven top settings worn out so I didn’t know which setting was which when trying to use it, faulty settings on the washing machine, holes in the walls where power points are located behind the beds, a dirty sock under the bed, the horrid stench of cigarettes and ********* upon every exit of our room and springs visibly sticking out of the bed. Our major issue however was the broken clothes dryer. We booked this accommodation g

We arrived in Perth at 2.30am and got a taxi straight from the airport. As it was in the middle of the night we had to press a buzzer and wait for someone to speak to us through the speaker, however they were either asleep or could not be bothered, so pressed the buzzer for a long time, finally someone came over the speaker which was distorted and they were telling me off for leaving my finger on the buzzer, they let us in and again he started telling us off about the buzzer, we totally ignored him stating our name and how many nights we were stating, i think he finally got the idea gave us a key and vouchers to get our breakfast. We just went to bed and viewed the room in the morning. Definitely needs redecorating, bed seem to go go slightly downhill head as we felt our feet were higher than our heads, pillows were flat, we had a sheet then a duvet which was had seen better days and needs a new one and then a top sheet. Bathroom was basic, did have a shower although it made some strange nosies and the temperature was up and down, no plug in the hand basin, there were toiletries which we never used. Breakfast was very basic, just some cold meats, cold hard boiled egg, salad and toast. If you wanted cook you had to pay along with Croissants, pain au raisin etc. Reception staff during the day were pleasant and very helpful, always had a smile. Getting around it was in a good position to get around the city, it was close to the Freebus service called the cat service which you can hop on and off at any time. Would we stay again - No - there's plenty of hotels in Perth .

Excellent views,we had the Swan & Waterfront Park as our room with a view. Very handy to bus stops going either way,and convenience stores close by. Breakfast was great, but we cheated and went to The Hyatt next door for dinner as a treat. Excellent shower, and bed was comfy.

This hotel is pretty good for a few nights. It's well positioned close to other restaurants and bars etc. The rooms are like little apartments with cooking facilities and a fridge. I didn't know this when booking, so I used the room like a regular hotel. Breakfast is extra and is served on roof terrace and is fantastic place for views over perth. Breakfast is good quality, but poor value. 20 AUD is too much for just continental breakfast. There's no hot buffet food at all. Overall it was OK, but there are lots of other hotels around of better standard. If you don't particularly need the apartment facilities, I'd consider a regular hotel.

I'm not going to explain every problem I've experienced, because it's going to be too long and I'm going to be upset. My aim is to warn that this hotel's customer service is very bad: front desk, room service, housekeeping. I was really appalled that a hotel can be so unprepared and not properly train its staff. Ignorant staff that thinks it knows everything, they doesn't understand anything about customer service. As there were many areas with problems, you come to the conclusion that it is no training provide. Someone from customer service called my husband who refused to waste his time with this hotel again. The stay was so horrible, that he doesn't want to waste a second more with such disqualified people. I fully agree with him. In a search for a hotel, if customer service is a point to be considered, look for another hotel.
