Sercotel JC1 Murcia

Murcia|2.48km from city center
To say that this hotel was disappointing is an understatement. We arrived at around 10:45 pm on June 5th. When we arrived, we asked if there were any places open to eat. They informed us that their restaurant closed in 15 minutes, so they couldn’t help us. We asked if they could recommend someplace to which they responded that we could walk 20 minutes “that way” and maybe something would be open. No offer of calling a taxi, nothing. We were underwhelmed with the staff already, but when the elevator door opened, we were hit with a smell that I can only describe as dirty gym socks. Then we opened our room. The ever present odor remained, but we were greeted with a whole new set of issues. It was hot, and there was no way to regulate the air. There was a poorly patched hole on the wall inside the door with some brown substance smeared/dripped down the wall. The curtain was shredded as if a cat had been hanging from it. There were broken tiles in the bathroom. The toilet seat was broken (when you sat on it, it slid to the right). One tile was so loose next to the bathroom door that my husband almost lost his balance. Mirrors were dirty. There were lipstick prints on the windows. One of the most disturbing things was that when I picked up the hairdryer, it was sticky. So gross. So, the next morning, we got up to get breakfast only to find out there was no breakfast menu. Also, no lunch menu. So, we did have a tea and a croissant while we watched the kids at the daycare that functions outside of the hotel interact. That was the best part of the experience. During breakfast, we booked another hotel in town. We left for the day. We stopped by and checked into our new hotel which is lovely. We returned to Sercotel to retrieve our bags and check out. So, we paid for four nights in advance. We stayed one; that’s how bad this place is. Also, to add insult to insult, when we checked out, they tried to charge us $44. I told them that we paid in full in advance. The clerk suggested that maybe we had dinner!!!!! NOPE!!! In the end, they couldn’t explain the $44 charge and told us we didn’t have to pay it. Gee. Thanks for not charging us money that we didn’t owe you. Do yourself a favor. Never. Ever. Book. Here.

Fabulous Apartment with the Best View in Town. Quiet Area, Short Walk to Centre.

Murcia
Rental basis: Entire house or apartmentNumber of bedrooms: 2; Number of other rooms with beds: 0We purchased the apartment off plan in 2004 and had many happy holidays here, in fact we liked the area so much we bought a house nearby and lived in Spain for 13 years, though we are now back in the Uk. We have undertaken an extensive refurbishment recently and the apartment now boasts a state of the art luxury kitchen with built in fridge freezer, oven and microwave, lots of cupboard space, induction hob with extractor over and granite worktops. The living room has new dining table and chairs, two comfy sofas with foot rests, 47” Hd tv incorporating firestick, Uk and Spanish tv channels, Dvd player and cd/radio. In the main bedroom is a new queen size double bed, matching headboard and bedside cabinets, all new from April. By Summer of 2024 a complete bathroom refurb is planned with walk in shower, non slip floor tiles and other luxury fittings. The main attraction though is still the location, quiet but close to all amenities and with the best view of the Bay of Mazarron in Puerto.Puerto de Mazarron is a little Spanish jewel, still barely known by holidaymakers from the Uk, though that has been changing over time as the word has spread! The Spanish people love it here but they only come in numbers in July and August, mainly from Madrid, so the rest of the year is busy but not over-busy. Known to ex-pats as “the Port”, Puerto has a fantastic range of beaches, enough cafe bars and restaurants so you can eat somewhere different every night if you wish and lots of activities locally including wind surfing, scuba diving (several schools), jet skis, tennis, rambling, golf etc.Not too far away are the cities of Cartagena and Murcia with great shopping, water park, zoo, museums and lots of historical sites from the Roman ruins up to the recent past.We offer free Wifi during your stay!

I can't believe a four-star hotel. If you don't speak Spanish, you get lost no one in the hotel is able to speak English both at the reception and at the restaurant. In addition, the room is not very clean. It is almost strange that the Melia chain permit a situation like this. If you want to order something at the room service with the phone be prepared because they don't speak any English word.

The fact is that they have done a lot of cooperation with us. If it is true that we found some unimportant details at the beginning, due to the inconvenience caused to you, they did not provide them with a bottle of cava, but they themselves provided it. Many details. The room facilities are complete and detailed. It must be said that only the details of the bathroom make us fall in love.

Hits: Excellent value at present. Clean, large rooms with strong air conditioning and plenty of storage. Plenty of furnishings. Well-equipped and very clean bath. Easy to drive to and from. On-site parking (additional cost). Misses: Room furnishings are tired scuffed and tired. The blackout lining of our drapery was in near tatters. The parking garage is laid out crazily with a huge number of pillars in seemingly random locations--I cannot imagine negotiating it when anywhere near full. We dealt with numerous scary parking garages (compared to the USA) during our road trip in Spain but this one wins the prize for worst. The surrounding neighborhood while quite modern is, like the parking garage, laid out crazily despite being on flat land. Other than a McDonald's and a Burger King we could not find any restaurants on foot despite my good--I thought--written directions. The immediate area is highly commercial with numerous car dealerships--after that it's residential. Both the new and old city centers are a few km away. Met our needs for a one-night stay after a long drive and before our flight the next day but I would not call it a good place for tourists.
DoubleTree by Hilton La Torre Golf & Spa Resort

Lovely serene hotel on great golf resort. As a Hilton diamond member I was delighted to get my room upgraded - thank you Hilton. Room was very spacious with a lovely large bath. Great views of the resort and golf course from the very spacious balcony - it’s just a shame that the lake is looking so grubby and low in water, I spoke to a local who advised the hotel owned the lake and are seemingly refusing to fill it up. The mattress was too soft for my liking and I didn’t get much sleep the first night but got used to it I guess. I’ve read on other reviews that the internal phones were not working and they still weren’t during my stay - pretty poor. The pool area and bar are the real highlights of this hotel, lovely area to chill at with a good selection of food and drink. Staff were all very helpful and breakfast was as expected from a Doubletree with a great selection. I’ll definitely stay here again - I’m already missing sitting by that lovely pool!

The experience and stay here has been very good, it was the second time I came here with my partner and this time has been better than the previous one. The room was very clean and the hotel was very comfortable. The room was still smoking, even though it was a non-smoking room, as I was here for the first time. The dryer you have to be pressing a button all the time and at the end your fingers are tired, and at least in our last room there was no swab in the bathroom, so I couldn't slip my hair in front of the mirror. The hotel was very comfortable and very comfortable.
