Pullman Zamzam Madina

Pullman Zamzam Madina

Medina|0.98km from city center
Easy and thankfully an early check-in, which gave us much needed time to go visit Haram and attend to prayers. I had a 2 bedroom overlooking the haram on one of the higher floors, and it was special. Rooms are generous in size, well appointed with amenities, and 2 baths, which is great when you have teenagers who also need their own space. The hotel was conveniently located to Gate 36 of the mosque (about 8 min walk from door to door) and better for men than women who had to walk a bit further to their entrance. Apparently, the hotel offers shuttle services as well, but we didn't need to utilize it. With government requirements and regulations opening the time we got there, it was getting busier and can only imagine how packed it would be at full swing. Lots of groups and tour buses can be rather overwhelming to get lifts/elevators at times. Plus, with so many nationalities and languages, it was a real treat to try and communicate, so always be patient and have an open mind. Easy to order Uber services or taxi from front of hotel. Starbucks for coffee lovers are also available at lobby. Food/breakfast service was fresh and varied, and we never had issues with the service or the quality. Only issue came into play when I was overcharged at checkin for the room and although I caught it a few hours later and brought it to receptions attention, it took an agonzing number of follow ups and empty promises before it was rectified at checkout. Even then, it was like pulling teeth and nearly made us late for our departure. Although the hotel team tried to be helpful, just bear in mind that the concept of speed and efficiency is not the same as in NAmerica. Overall, I would still recommend this hotel, even as an AllAccor member. I personally wasn't offered any additional benefits which in the grand scheme would not really have made a difference given that we were visiting one of the best places on earth!
Anwar Al Madinah Movenpick Hotel

Anwar Al Madinah Movenpick Hotel

Medina|1.69km from city center
Firstly I would like to make very clear that there are two Movenpick hotels in Madinah which some reviewers seem to be mixing up! This one is part of the Accor group and the Movenpick Madina that we stayed in. It is BEHIND the Pullman Zamzam Madinah, which faces one side of the Masjid al Nabawi haram. So it is a couple of roads walk away from the haram on the opposite side to the female entrances to the haram. This is nowhere near five star standard. Due to the poor condition of the bathrooms and room decor I would say three is being generous. Despite its attractive entrance and reception this is a rundown hotel in need of refurbishment, in particular the disgusting bathrooms. The bath, sinks and tiles were old, stained and mouldy. This was made worse by the fact that the housekeeping was very poor. The rooms weren’t cleaned and towels not changed unless we requested this. The actual rooms were ok despite the tired looking furnishings and lack of cleaning. The receptionist who checked us in apologised for not giving us adjacent rooms, but we discovered we did have adjacent rooms, and both were triple rooms. The rooms were quite spacious with comfortable generous sized beds but the TVs had very poor reception and the wifi was appalling, regularly dropping out. The fridges in the rooms were tiny and barely cold. In fact they and the lights turned off whenever we took the key cards out! Because of the hotel location the view out of the window was depressing, a view of the main road. A nice touch though was that as well as a Quran there was a nice prayer mat in each room. On our first morning we went down to breakfast to discover that the female staff had already let some guests have breakfast for our rooms. The head of staff quickly resolved this apologising profusely. In fact apart from this confusion on the first day we found the restaurant staff to be very nice people. They always had a smile for us and the waiters always ready to assist. We were very very disappointed with the very limited cooked breakfast items - there was barely any variety and apart from on one day only vegetarian options. The pancakes were disgusting and tasted like long life ones from packets rather than freshly made. Very very disappointing. But the worst was that there was no fresh coffee!! Only sachets of instant coffee. How is this possible in a so called five star restaurant? There was a big unhealthy selection of pastries though. And the strawberry juice when available was nice. We tried to order room service in the evening on one occasion- the staff member (chef?) who answered the call was rude and told us some of the items were either unavailable or incorrectly described on the menu! On the whole staying at this hotel was a major inconvenience due to its location and at best it is a three star hotel. I would not stay here again.

Alansar Golden Tulip

Alansar Golden Tulip

Medina|0.29km from Al Masjid an Nabawi
I am profoundly disappointed with the nightmarish experience at Golden Tulip Al Ansar Hotel during our Umrah stay from December 13th to 18th, 2023. Upon our arrival at the hotel, we were assigned rooms already occupied by male guests, who were smoking, exposing my Mother, Wife, and Sister to an unsafe and terrifying situation. Replacement rooms provided were disgusting, with unclean conditions of the carpet, bedding and bathroom. It seems like the receptionist were just handing out room keycards without checking if the rooms had guests, which is an unbelievably unsafe practice. Despite lengthy complaints, the hotel only offered suitable rooms after much persistence. However, our peace was short-lived. Within 12 hours, Mr Amid, a vile aggressive staff member, insisted we vacate our rooms, falsely claiming we had booked for only one night. Despite my attempts to clarify and request a check under my name, he adamantly demanded our eviction, even threatening to involve the police. This heartless behavior caused my mother to cry, an unjust burden during a sacred journey. Regrettably, Al Hadi Travel/Polani Travel, our travel agency, failed to provide effective on-ground support in Saudi Arabia. Communication was limited to phone calls, accommodating UK time, and their inability to resolve the situation promptly added to our stress. I strongly discourage others from choosing Al Hadi Travel/Polani Travel for their insensitivity and incompetence, and will be posting a review soon. Only through the intervention of a compassionate outsider did Mr Amid reluctantly check under my name, revealing our valid reservation for the entire duration. No apology was extended, and the replacement rooms provided were unsatisfactory, featuring uncleanliness and a lack of basic room service. This appalling treatment, coupled with the unhygienic conditions, prompts me to label this as the worst hotel experience. I vehemently discourage others from choosing Golden Tulip Al Ansar Hotel and would rate it zero stars if possible. Mr Amid's callous behavior is inexcusable, and I hope he is held accountable for his actions by a higher power. Note: The attached photo of Mr Amid is provided.

Zaha Al Madina Hotel

Quality and Price do not meet: 175 euro 2 nights, no breakfast. Stains on wall, showercabin 60 cm × 80 cm while water splatters into bathroom. Towelrod next to wc is unhygienic imho. Had a room at streetside, noisy because of traffic. On top of it the pilgrim guests were shouting in hallway until 23.00. Had to ask a travelagent 25 m from hotel to print my boardingpass. English at reception is basicly deplorable. The guy is friendly but since there is a language gap pretty useless. The good things are a pakistani take away (50 m) and Mosque of the Prpophet, the highlight of Medina, about 10-15 min walk. Taxi from trainstation at best 50 rial, back to station I paid 20 rial.

Location of hotel was within walking distance to Nabawi, about 15 minutes. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful while the room itself was well maintained. Only issue was the door to our room was quite hard to close and had to be slammed.
