We were never informed of power cuts and its corresponding impact in a room with small fan and the inability to open windows due to plenty of mosquitoes and other insects. The whole family had an awful night and were dumbfounded to learn that they have a generator and simply forgot to put it on. This is appalling customer service. No indication of depth sign around a swimming pool which plunges up to 2 metres and you can just imagine the risk for the customers Customer care zero

This is a very unsafe place to stay at. We have been held up by 5 armed robbers and our possessions taken in June 2023. There was no surveillance of the perimeter of the complex and only one person on duty in a cubicle at the main gate. We cut our visit short after this trauma, and the worst part of this is the TOTAL INDIFFERENCE of Valverde Eco Hotel about the events that played out. We didn’t get any communication form them, and certainly not any sort of refund for the rest of our stay not taken up. We are still suffering from the aftermath of this. So be very sure of exactly what measures are in place to ensure your safety should you be brave enough to opt for a stay there. Possibly you can be attacked and support or efficient security measures from Valverde can also possibly be not forthcoming. I personally will not be able to set foot at that establishment again.

We booked and paid in full on 06 January 2023, for 1 night 06 May 2023. It's our best friend's daughter's wedding. It's far, we don't drive at night and Uber is too costly there and back. Today, 2 days before, we found out they dropped us! No explanation. I even reached out to the owner and GM, JP Valverde, who has not responded, but ordered a refund. It's RUINED the wedding for us, as we can now only go for the afternoon wedding and not the evening anymore. Shame on you guys. You don't deserve any new business!

Wow - Wow - Wow!!! Words can't describe our experience at this stunning hotel... We went there for our 1st wedding anniversary and were blown away by the friendliest service, stunning scenery, amazing spa, and by the EXCELLENT Chef Michael! It was so relaxing and beautiful and the food was out of this world. So sad we could stay for only 1 night though 😢 Would have loved to stay for a week!! Would most definitely recommend this to anyone 👍

Unfortunately this venue is one of the worst I have ever stayed at. We came down to attend a wedding, and were booked in at Valverde for one night. From leaking roofs, to first only having cold water, then no water at all, this venue has some major issues. The floors, and stair cases had constant puddles on them from the leaking roof- this is a huge safety issue. The facilities are also the bare minimum- while the bedrooms look updated the bathrooms are in desperate need of upgrading. No 2 point plugs were provided, when the hair dryer was not working, no spare was available. The room rate that we paid, included breakfast- however the food was terrible- and the eggs were probably powdered eggs and not fresh. Sadly, even though all these issues were raised- no one has contacted us to even apologise about the poor service If I could give negative stars I would. fortunately for me I was booked in somewhere else for the second night of wedding festivities, and many of my family members ended up checking out early and seeking alternate accommodation

I stayed in Room 37 The celing fan was too noisy. It need to be on as it was fairly hot the night I stayed there. The water pressure was low. There were dogs, either on the property itself or on a neighbouring property, that keep on barking and howling, not all the time though! Most importantly, the towels were MUSTY.

This is such a lovely place with a beautiful garden. The staff was friendly, we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was not so good, so much that I only ate the fresh fruits. Also wish they could put irons in the rooms. Was such an inconvenience not to iron out clothes

Place seemed to have a charming atmosphere. We were there for the Sunday for the Spanish Chamber of Commerce Payella competition and general festival. It was 12h30. I remember initially remarking that we should visit again. On ordering drinks the waiters were confused as to what draught they served and it turned out that my choice was sold out - Imagine hosting an event and not planning for adequate supplies! Waiters generally ignored us. At one point, after some 15 minutes of trying to get any waiter's attention, one of the event organisers eventually went up to a set of three waiters - standing around chatting - pointed to our table and requested someone attend to us. Another 20 minutes passed before someone eventually arrived. We decided to no longer order lunch and I drove out 15 minutes for take-aways while the rest of my party waited at the venue. Of course - as soon as I left the general area, a waiter rushed over to our table worried that we were absconding without paying (which we clrearly were not) I got the take-aways, which I enjoyed at this venue and paid the bill for the initial drinks without a tip. The anticipated relaxing Sunday was not to be thanks to poor service. Despite our initial impressions, we will be sure to never give this venue our custom. Good luck to them though

Our experience at Valverde was doomed before we even arrived. Valverde Eco Hotel (as it's called outside of TripAdvisor) was recommended as accommodation for a wedding that was happening less than a km away. It was the more cost-effective of the two recommended hotels, though not by much at R990 a night. I booked our accommodation a month before the wedding date. I mentioned in my booking that we'd need to be checked in early (10:30am) since the wedding itself started at 11:30. I didn't hear anything back, so assumed this wouldn't be a problem. The day before the wedding, I received a phonecall informing me that check-ins were at 2pm, and that they wouldn't be able to check us in before 12 at the very earliest. This immediately put me on edge. After some back and forth, and enquiring as to why this was suddenly a problem when I'd requested early check-in a month prior, I was assured that they would find a way to check us in or at least store our belongings at 10:30. We arrived on the morning of the wedding, and our room was ready for us. What a relief! All that stress for nothing. We made our way to the room and that stress returned. The room was tiny. It advertises on their website that it has a sitting area, but what it means is that it has a corner where the tray of tea and coffee is stored. No one could comfortably sit there. But this was not even our biggest concern. The room had dry wall that didn't reach the thatched ceiling. This meant that we couldn't talk above a whisper without being heard by the neighbouring room or anyone standing in the hallway. Certainly not what you want in a room that you've paid almost R1000 for. We got ready and left for the wedding, stopping for coffee and muffins at the entrance stall, which were lovely. On our return at 6:30pm, we were hoping to head to the restaurant for a light meal. I tried to call reception to find out if the restaurant was open (as Google said it should be), but got no answer. I went down and tried to find a security guard, there wasn't one around - though an armed response person informed me he'd gone to deal with a problem at the other side of the hotel. I found the restaurant after some searching, and it was closed. Around 7pm I found someone to ask about this, and they said that because there had been no bookings, they'd closed for the night. At no point had I been asked if I wanted a booking, or advised that one needed to be made. I asked if there were any restaurants nearby, and was told that there was only a service station. Thank goodess for trusty Google helping me to find a restaurant for dinner 12kms away. After dinner, we returned and turned in for an early night. We needed to leave at 5am the next morning to drive back to the Eastern Cape. We turned off the lights, and found that the half dry wall meant that the hallway light shone through at all hours. Hardly ideal. The foam mattress wasn't the most comfortable, but we managed to finally fall asleep. On waking at
