I've had the privilege of staying in numerous Shangri-La's throughout Southeast Asia, and this particular one felt somewhat dated and in dire need of modernisation. I could see signs of improvements in progress, with sections that appeared to have already received a facelift. On my first day, I ventured to the sauna, only to find the temperature so lukewarm that I couldn't even work up a sweat. I voiced my discontent, and I'm pleased to report that the issue was addressed promptly by the next day. One aspect that left me somewhat disenchanted was the interaction, or rather lack thereof, between the staff and guests. It didn't quite embody the exemplary service one would expect from a high-end 5-star establishment. However, there was a shining exception to this observation - Addy, who was stationed at the breakfast area. Addy demonstrated a commendable level of attentiveness, engaging guests at their tables and ensuring needs were met promptly. Whether you required additional items or sought information, Addy was the person to turn to. This kind of service truly exemplified the standard one would anticipate from a hotel of this caliber. I did have an enjoyable stay, but for this hotel to remain a five star there is room for improvement.

This is the first complaint review I leave while living in Kota Kinabalu for the past eight years. I booked for a sleepover party I made to celebrate the 16th birthday of my beloved daughter and friends. The connecting room, birthday decoration, and extra bed that the hotel specifically requested were not prepared, and above all, the smell of mold from the room was shocking. I am an asthmatic. I couldn't complain in front of happy children, so I had a terrible night. When I woke up in the morning, the children also had a hard time with the smell of mold. I felt sorry and ashamed to my daughter and friends. I talked to the staff about the situations while checking out, and they told me to leave a review. Room numbers 7331 and 7332 must be checked.

New experience to stay in such hotel, superb service, excellent care of the guests, beautiful deco and set up. Highly recommend for any potential guests to sabah. The standard review only provide 5 stars rating, personally I give ritz residence, miminum 8 stars ratings. Things to improve : The lifts, for those driving, need to make it more inconvenience.

This is definitely the most technologically advanced hotel that I have stayed in! Detailed Check-in instructions are sent via WhatsApp. Check-in and check out are automated. Floors are accessed via key card and rooms via code. I loved the themed rooms and creative look of the hotel. I opted for the Musician room with ensuite, which was very clean and comfortable with a water cooler in the hall available to guests, in addition to the tea and coffee facilities. I also noted that the shared bathrooms are also very modern and clean. The TV service has a good selection of entertainment. I chose this hotel for close proximity to Kota Kinabalu airport, as I stayed for a stopover between flights but wish I had stayed longer. In spite of a lot of self-service, staff are still available on WhatsApp. I had a minor problem where I'd been accidentally left with shampoo and no shower gel, I contacted the staff and they delivered some in the middle of the night. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and I would definitely stay here again!

This hotel provides airport shuttle with an additional fee, so peace of mind & no worries with it to ensure you arrive at airport on time for your flight departures 👍🏻 It offers luggage storage with an additional fee too. Very convenient if you wish to ride with train without bulky luggage ya 👍🏻 I have stayed in Deluxe King with airport view 🪟 room for 5️⃣ nights, yes ✅, actually longer than I have expected as I really enjoyed the friendliest hospitality here Love the airport view 🪟 from my room as I got to catch the airplanes ✈️🛫 as well as beautiful sunset 🌇 from my room. Hmm...Just that need to bear with the noise from busy road 🛣️ & airplanes 🛫✈️ flown for a light sleeper. Everything absolutely fine for me during my stay, you may opt for higher level is. Level 7 or Level 8 subjects to room availability for a lesser noise from the busy roads then The room is well equipped with all the necessity a traveller needs during a short stay. Love the comfy soft pillow & bed 🛏️ for a good night rest 💤😴 There is a cosy cafe & lounge area at the hotel lobby, it's beautiful when the micro optic lighting is on. I had a good long chat with friend here after checked in on the 1️⃣st day. Then, I enjoyed my cosy afternoon here to write my blog posts & work preparation during my stay It's also with a Flypod Restaurant 🍽️ within walking distance within the Aeropod Commercial Square to enjoy warm hot meals anytime during your stay here Highly recommended as I have opted this as my KK city hotel accommodation. I have engaged their personal driver services to Papar, Membakut & Kundasang. Reasonable price with great 👍🏻 friendly transport services Hope my review here is helpful to all. This hostel is very clear, well-run with friendly staff and nice decoration. Compared with 2 other hostels I stayed with in KK, the room in this hostel is the most spacious and the air-cond is very good. •Bed: very comfortable. •Electricity socket: all bunk beds have at least one USB port, some may have 2 USB ports and/or universal socket which fits China/Aust/USA plugs. •Bathroom: Clean, yet there is some room for improvement. Water pressure is good. •Bicycle: Rate is RM10 for the first hour, RM5 for every hour thereafter, and an hamlet is provided. It's nice to ride along the airport/beach in the morning. The sun could become very strong after 11am though. •Food nearby: Tried several eateries (Chinese/Malay/Indian-styled) in the neighborhood and all the food was so-so, nothing more than filling up your stomach. KFC, which run by hearing impaired staff, maybe a better choice. At night, Tanjung Aru Beach provides a wide range of hawker foods. •Hostel restaurant: The restaurant in the hostel is well decorated and air-conditioned with value meal set priced from RM15.9 to RM17.9. The grilled lamb was very nice. •Breakfast included: Self-serviced and very simple–just toast, egg and tea/coffee. Beach: Tanjung Aru beach (15 minutes walk) has beautiful sunset. Few people swim in the daytime (there is a jelly fish warning sign in the beach), but at sunset it's flocked with people. Overall, high quality hostel providing good value for money, esp for those want to stay near the beach.

decent 1 or 2 star hotel with reasonable rate. room was stuffy & smelt due to the curtains. just need to open up your curtain / window during day for sunlight to shine in while you are not around.. make sure you keep yr stuffs safe in luggage and lock it till you return. pillow tooo thin (even so with combi 2 into 1). daily cleaning - thank you very much to the cleaner. didnt get a chance to say thank you to her. usage of computer is FOC and free flow. walking distance to seaside and park and tg plaza & airport (if you backpack can la BUT no no no to trolley luggage okie :-P ). front office and driver are friendly look like operate by family members. well, highly recommend you to stay with them

Hotel room is basic but clean, and good value. Free airport pickup/drop off is excellent, just make sure you call to make booking. The driver somehow missed us at airport but came back to pick us up when you called the hotel. Free breakfast is reasonably good (noodle, scramble egg, sausage, bean). There are eating places/restaurants and shops nearby. It is also about 2km from Tanjong Aru beach, and a few kms from town center. Will stay there again.

The hotel room which I stayed was very confortable, with wide space, big bed, clean bedsheets and near to eating places and also near to the airport. Initially I was afraid the noise from the airplanes may disturb my sleep as my room was facing on the left side of the building, but to my surprise I did not hear planes flying so I was happy that I didn't experience any noise to disturb my tranquility. The only con is there is no restaurant in the hotel so my breakfast came as a bento like box takeaway. No coffee also, the coffee is available in the room but is chargeable. Only the tea bags are free. The parking is multi-storeyed and managed electronically. You put your car into the car lift and it is then parked automatically one car at a time. To retrieve your car, you need to scan your hotel card for it to be brought down via the car lift again. It may be time consuming if you are in a hurry and there are a few people in the queue before you.
