Mercure Kota Kinabalu City Centre

Kota Kinabalu City Center Kota Kinabalu|0.2km from Borneo Reef World
I recently stayed at Mercure Kota Kinabalu, and my overall experience was a mixture of positives and negatives. The hotel's ambiance and service were generally acceptable, but a couple of aspects left me with a less than perfect impression. On the positive side, the room, although not the promised city view, was comfortable and well-maintained. The amenities provided were standard and met our basic needs for a short stay. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, adding a pleasant touch to our overall experience. However, one notable drawback was the discrepancy in the room description. Despite being assured of a city view, we were assigned a room overlooking the opposite facing the busy road. While this may seem like a minor issue, it did impact our overall satisfaction, as the promise of a particular view was one of the factors influencing our choice. Another inconvenience was the lack of dedicated parking facilities at the hotel. This meant that my husband had to purchase parking coupons daily, adding an unexpected expense to our stay. Moreover, the strict enforcement of parking regulations by 8 am posed a challenge, especially for guests who preferred to start their day later. In conclusion, Mercure Kota Kinabalu is a decent choice for a short stay, offering comfortable accommodations and friendly service. However, potential guests should be aware of potential discrepancies in room assignments and the absence of on-site parking facilities, which may affect the overall convenience and cost of their stay.

The room is very clean, the location is also very good, the customer service is also very timely, and there is also a customer service staff who can speak Chinese. The only shortcoming is that I checked in at 3pm, which took up a lot of time for me. I live alone. The space is very large and very warm.

I really like this youth hostel. It has just opened. The hardware and facilities are all new. The transportation is very convenient. It is very close to the pier and shopping malls. It can be reached in a few minutes on foot. The staff service is also very good. I stayed here for several days. , very comfortable, will go again next time!

Full self-service check-in, remember to contact the hotel in advance to ask for the password for the key, the key is in the mailbox on the 32nd floor, you can use WhatsApp to communicate with the store for check-in and check-out. The room is relatively new and spacious, and the view is not bad. It's a bit far to walk to ***a Street, but everything else is very convenient. There is a self-service laundromat downstairs where you can wash clothes. Overall, it is recommended

The view from the hotel is ruined by the building site next door but it is reasonably priced for the area. Service was one of the poorest I’ve had in Malaysia apart from Gulam (Matt) who was a massive help for us to get to places we wanted to see. The staff at the upstairs pool didn’t want to be there and weren’t interested in serving, a smile is free and short snappy sentences don’t help in this industry- maybe some retraining is needed if this place wants to compete with the nearby luxury hotels. The express laundry service was difficult to arrange and I felt like I was putting a burden on them even though that’s their job. The breakfast was okay without being outstanding - again, the people making the breakfast looked like they were there because they needed to be. Without Gulam (Matt), this review would look a lot worse. This guy should be in charge of customer service lessons for this hotel. The room was clean and big but the view started straight into a brick wall of a loading bay. There aren’t maybe pictures as there wasn’t much worthy of taking one.
