Cliff Cottage

I took my family to Koh Chang for a scuba diving vacation. Decided to stay at The Cliff Cottage because it is affiliated with BB Divers. This small, comfortable eco friendly resort is a short distance from Bang Bao pier which is the location of BB Divers and there 3 dive boats. The resort staff are all very kind and friendly, the restaurant is very good and takes early morning orders the night before so your breakfast is ready on time so you don't miss the shuttle to the dive boats. If you dive or want a relaxing, fun place to stay it's worth it .

I really wanted to like this place. The food was good and the restaurant has amazing views. We arrived with high hopes. The place was basic, no problem with this and we weren’t expecting much in terms of amenities given the price. What I do expect, however, regardless of what I pay, is cleanliness. Problem started when we went back to our room for the night. Went to have a shower and there was hair in it. And not just one. This is one thing I find gross - it only takes a cleaner to look back to make sure they’ve done their job to avoid this. In addition, the bathroom was extremely run down. Shelves hadn’t been dusted in a long time. Tiles missing and extremely dirty grout. In addition, we had the worst sleep. The mattress was extremely hard - and while this is subjective, it was unbearably uncomfortable. The ants were another issue. I get it, I’m in the tropics BUT when you go into the bathroom in the middle of the night and there are tons of them in and around the toilet - it’s just gross. I don’t want to have to worry about them getting into my nether regions when I want to use the toilet. Use some traps, spray - just do something. We decided we needed to book elsewhere and when we went to leave, they never asked us why we were leaving. A lost opportunity, in my opinion, to learn how to improve. During checkout, we were charged for breakfast which was supposed to be included. We were told we chose a breakfast that wasn’t included. I was surprised given they simply asked us what we wanted prepared and we said American breakfast (which they got wrong and brought us an English breakfast instead). I’m very curious what type of breakfast was actually included since what we got was nothing special (see photo). One egg, one piece of toast, a tablespoon of beans etc. They did remove the charge as no one told us that what we had chosen wasn’t part of the ‘included’ option. We heard the water was shut down for a day after we left so seems we departed at the right time! Our next resort was great and kept swarms of ants out of the room so it is possible! ;)

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights while we dived with BB Divers. This is actually part of BB and is their resort. It is in a very convenient location just over the bay from the pier from which the dive boats depart. The location on a narrow spit of land is such that the rooms face east and look out over a beach but the restaurant faces west over a rocky bay which is good for snorkeling. The beach is nothing special but we did swim from it. We really liked our room. It was well equipped and comfortable and great value. The restaurant has good food and is a great place to chill. Lovely staff too. I thoughts the beers were a bit expensive but the food was very reasonable. They have free bicycles, kayaks and masks/snorkels. Motorcycle hire is available. BB Divers will pick up from hotels on the island but if you want to just dive it is a great good value location. (BB Divers are very professional - one of the best companies we have ever dived with).

The staff, especially Nueng, have been very friendly and helpful. The service was great at all times. To name some examples: Nueng helped us renting a Scooter, getting our Phone back after losing it somewhere on the island and getting a good price for the taxi. The restaurant is excellent and has an amazing atmosphere. We just loved to spend time there. Snorkeling in front of the restaurant was quite an adventure because of the many fish and corals we have seen. The snorkeling gear was free as well as the kayaks. We highly recommend this place!

Well, i travelled here on my first trip back to Thailand after covid. Stayed for 2 magnificent weeks, the people working here are helpful with anything you need. Everyday when i come in the morning they will be here cleaning and getting ready to open the resturant for food and coffee. And they keep smiling until they close for the day, all while giving you a great time. They have divinginstructors so you can stay in the resort and get PADI certified. If you want to go snorkeling you can loan gear from the restaurant, or sign up on a boat trip, they even have 3 boats that go out daily for diving and snorkeling. If you doubt that i enjoy this place, let me tell you a little story. I got here, they showed me to a little bungalow in the edge of a jungle. Every morning there were sounds of thunder on the roof around 6am. If you keep your curtains open you will see the family of monkeys having breakfast outside. I took my PADI open water with these guys and had a few extra trips to enjoy it. Then came the time to leave, i headed for Bangkok and managed to stay there for less then 48 hours. I actually headed back to Koh Chang and Cliff Cottage for another 2 weeks. Nearby you have this amazing fishing village that has been wonderous to explore. Not one will bother you and try to sell you stuff, they just smile, say hi and let you go on your way. I reccomend stopping and talking to the locals, they are really nice people around here.

Amazing location between two bays. You can go snorkeling directly in front of the cozy restaurant. There is a infinity pool and lots of places to relax. The thai food you can order in the restaurant is really delicious. We stayed in the very confortable double room with view on the bay and the fisherman village. You can book snorkeling and diving tours, bus tickets, get bicicle, kanu and snorkeling utilitys for free to use.

Very good location between 2 bays. Clean nice rooms close to the bay to snorkle. The Restaurant which is reception same time, has an amazing view on the Ocean. Snorkeling is possible from the own bay. Fisherman village is 10 min. walking distance. My Nueng Lek.Lek from reception Service is very friendly.

In perfect location to hang out and watch the sea. The restaurant is open all day and has a pool and nice places to chill all day. You can also go into the sea which is just in front of the restaurant for snorkeling. The staff is super nice. I got to know Nueng and Lek. Highly recommended.
