Opal Key Resort & Marina

Excellent location. We had an ocean front room a few steps from the sunset bar and pool. We stayed four nights and only took Our car out once. Perfect trip.

Went with 3 friend to run half marathon. Location was close to race. Stayed at other end of Duval st last year and this side was closer to more restaurants and things to do. Resort was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Pool was very nice but get there early for a chair. Pool staff super helpful. Did not eat at restaurant but bar staff was friendly and drinks were reasonable. Great view of sunsets from "Sunset deck" but again, get there early for front row seat. Would stay here again.

I absolutely hated the cruise ships that parked in front of our room every day. We will never stay here again.

Very high priced option, but only positive thing about them is their location, everything around is at walking distance. The rooms are not even comparable to a regular Inn kind of hotel, very cheap bathrooms with unlock-able doors! If your room has got a patio , you may not be able to use it!! Pool is very small, max depth 5ft , and hot tub is a joke. 3ft warm tub, good for toddlers only. Don’t go by the photos, this place is not worth the price you will pay, stay away!!

The service is satisfying and the room facility is clean. Also the location is superior. The only shortcoming is the noise from the surounding, the rumbling of gigantic AC sustems from the adjacent building, is a little bothering.

The Opal is a beautiful place. The staff was very courteous and helpful. We will be back!

We were so disappointed with our stay at this hotel which is a shame because Key West itself was good and other hotels within the Keys were excellent. It wasn't a good start as we arrived and stopped outside the hotel entrance the valet completely ignored us - so we drove through to self park. He was then disgruntled when he had to stop us. We left our car at the front of the hotel whilst we unloaded our luggage and transferred to our room. The receptionist was great, very helpful and courteous. The room allocated was in a separate block some distance away however as soon as we arrived we returned to the car to self park. The car was gone along with the keys - without our agreement. He clearly did not want to be there!! The room was dirty, marks on all the surfaces, walls and doors. The aircon consisted of two unsightly floor mounted units propped up with random bits of wood- with no instructions on how to operate and both were noisy. To add to the noise the room on one side overlooked the hotels air conditioning and catering vents which rattled and exhaled through out the day and night ruining any hope of sleep. We paid extra for an Ocean/Marina View - but failed to benefit from this as the view was blocked by two immense cruise ships. The only thing we could see was the hull of the ships. The balconies in any case were tiny with barely enough room to pass the table and take a seat. We would never return to this resort - i would rather sleep in the car.
