We just returned and had a great time in this hotel. Staff are so helpful and friendly. Suited us perfectly as a family with two kids, age 9&11. The room was simple but all we needed. Safe, air conditioning, balcony with sea view, mini fridge and shower. Comfy beds though the top bunk was slightly rickety. We were lucky enough to have a mama cat and her two young kittens living near to our room and they were a delight. Breakfast was fab, the gentleman hosting clearly took care to keep everything in order and stocked. The team did a great job. Delicious fresh biscuits and pastries each day, bread and a selection of jams, cereals and a variety of hot and cold savoury items which changed each day. Juices, coffee machine, selection of teas. Pretty much all you need. Sitting on the terrace overlooking the sea was a great start to the day. Beautiful views, the pool was spacious and clean and plenty of sun beds. You could tell they had just opened for the start of the season but everything was still running smoothly. The pool bar had a good selection of drinks and ice creams. The items get charged to your room but you can check the balance any time and settle up part way if needed. We used the shuttle bus to get into town, it runs regularly but make your plans and book your seat in advance. €1.50 pp each way. On the way back you can also get a taxi from the rank in town (€7 each way). Or walk back and stop off in one of the beach bars on the way up. Amnos was our fave pit stop. There are two lovely coves across the road, one accessed via the car park and down some steps. The other via steps leading to a precarious wooden bridge. Relaxing spots and fun to bob around with snorkels. Beach shoes recommended. A decent walk to town, maybe 40mins but only 10mins until you reach the nearest taverna and then on you’ll pass various different places/supermarket/patisserie/bars as you walk down. Plenty of choice for restaurants, bars and shops in Skala. For ice cream, we loved the gelato shop up the Main Street. The owner makes the products himself and lets you try as many as you like. Some gorgeous vegan gelato options. We did a boat trip with Captain Vangelis over to Ithaca. Would definitely recommend. We visited Vathy and Kioni and they were both beautiful. We also got a taxi over to Katelios (approx €20) and there are some pretty restaurants on the beach to enjoy. Overall a great holiday and we would certainly return!

Porto Skala Village Hotel is now a dim shadow of its former self. My family have been staying at the hotel on a total of four occasions starting 24 years ago, then it was bright, charming, simple but clean and spacious accommodation. After a break of 10 years we decided to go this September and what a mistake. There has been a very distinct decline in every aspect of the hotel. Evenings were once splendid at the pool bar with entertainment, where the guests broke the ice and got to know one another during after dinner drinks or coffees., I think we had one after dinner drink, that was it. The poolside is now dark and most unwelcoming, everything that made this place warm, charming and comfortable has seen decline and I am sorry that we did not just leave our good memories.

Stayed here end of September and it was lovely and quiet, rooms were basic but clean. Plenty of tasty food and very helpful staff. Our transfer to the airport didn’t leave till 6pm and they allowed to keep our room til we left at no extra charge. About a 40 min walk to Skala, there are bars to stop at on the way down and I would definitely recommend Nautilus fish restaurant for lunch/tea, fabulous! Several secluded bays right outside the hotel that are great for snorkelling, some of the access is tricky but it’s worth it!

A word of warning first lets start with the good points, a good variety of food at breakfast we didn't have evening meals as we like to get around to different restaurants so no complaints, moving on as previously been mentioned VERY expensive bar drinks such a shame there must be some kind of logic behind this so be warned everything is encouraged to go on your room number so pay all your bills if any as you go along that way there can be no mistakes and you won't get hit with a large bill at the end of your stay which to this day i'm not sure mine was correct but just paid also check how much the tourist tax is? you get that bill too added on so keep your eye on things.

Stayed here for 12 nights.. beautiful location we had a sea view and just had bed and breakfast.. breakfast was always lots of choices, eggs , pastries were beautiful. Definitely not a 4 star but lovely and clean our bathroom had been updated so we were happy with facilities.. you can hear rooms adjoining coughing etc.. We walked into skala 3/4 times 40 minutes. Used shuttle bus other times last collection was 9.10 which is too early..we got taxis which ranged from €6-€8 depending who you got!! Absolutely loved skala.. will definitely return but stay in skala.. so many lovely restaurants and laid back bars.. we never had a bad meal and didn’t even get to vist all the restaurants

An excellent 2 weeks in fantastic hotel. Rooms are large and airy, large balcony overlooking the sea. Breakfast buffet giving a wide and interesting selection. The hotel is situated approx 40 mins walk from Skala town. Whilst this is the main coast road there are pavements and lighting along the route which is gently sloping in parts. Very friendly staff always looking to help. Large pool area loads of loungers etc which is never crowded.

Just returned from 2 weeks at this Hotel on a B and B basis. No way is it 4 Star- 3 at best. On a Positive the Staff Evelyn and the 2 Pool Bar ladies make this Hotel. They are kind helpful and cannot do enought for you. Evelyn in particular is very knowledgeable and helps book restaurants and with anything else she can. Good Shuttle Bus service into and back from town which was helpful. Did 2 Hermes Boar Trips which were wonderful and Recommend Hermes - great staff good BBQ and lovely days out However overall the Hotel needs a complete refurb as rooms are tired and mould in showers and beds very uncomfortable. The Food was dreadful swimming in oil. Snack Bar only offered Rolls of Ham and Cheese or Turkey and Cheese (depending on the Day) No chef to make anything and no menu of other choices which was very poor and disappointing The Pool was really dirty and had algie all over the sides which I reported 4 times and I know others reported it too and nothing was done about it. A real shame as has potential but disappointing and would not return.

Lovely location and on the whole a good holiday . Rooms basic but had everything you needed , clean and fridge was very useful . Walls are thin and other peoples alarm clocks , coughing and nocturnal actives unfortunately can be heard quite clearly. Nice balcony with a limited sea view , not private though , no screening so overlooked and not the place for private conversations , the guests next door smoked so we chose not to sit out when he was out or we found ourselves smoking it for him . Great breakfast lots of choice and earlier start if leaving for the day . Evening meal we tried once , chose not to again , not great €20 a head ( we should have asked price first ) if you can eat a lot great value but if one plate enough then expensive , overcooked and swimming in oil . Shuttle bus very handy but we enjoyed the walk , approx 5000 steps each way and about 30 mins . Beach opposite one on the left not for the faint hearted , wooden steps collapsed and so a wooden pallet was the way up and down , other side better as steps most of the way down not for anyone with mobility issues or bad knees . Snorkle and mask and beach shoes essential , the sea is spectacular . The pool at the hotel was clean and sparkling when we stayed . Get the beer from the bar fridge not on draft it’s colder about € 4.50 for just under a pint . The supermarket down the road €1:60 hence why the room fridge handy . Lovely tavernas in Skala well worth exploring . Beach further down beautiful . Staff didn’t volunteer information on check in so do ask everything you can think of . You buy anything at the bar , shuttle bus or water from the hotel it goes on your room so if you need to keep check on spending you can pay the day after each time . Just be aware on check out room tax €3 a night , not a lot but we hadn’t know about it , probably in the small print . I’m sure bags would be collected from your room as steep slopes and steps to rooms but again ask this isn’t offered on check out . On the whole a lovely week but will be honest won’t stay there again .

Not a 4 star hotel, all of hotel needs updating. About 45 min to walk into Skala, used shuttle bus , all the time. Food in hotel not labelled, evening meal, food full of oil, wouldn’t know what I was eating. Pool lovely, but algae around it, not cleaned enough. Poolside tables filthy, item left on top. Still there 3 days later. I know you get what you pay for, but I don’t think staff, have a proper manager. Need some staff training, just to show them, how it should be done. If they were taught properly, maybe standards better.
