The Kandyan Manor by Bhathiya & Suzy

Susy and Batiya were great hosts… very very cosy… made me miss my parents home from sometime back… loved every bit of it… clean rooms , safe, tasty home cooked meals, Suzy is a fabulous cook by the way… two nights… well worth the stay… Loved the quietness… the rain… cosy couches and the amazing chats with Bathiya… Cannot recommend enough!

Had the best stay with Bhathiya and Suzy, who warmly welcomed me into their beautiful home. Even the dogs came to greet me. The manor has an elegant, yet rustic, feel and is tastefully furnished throughout. The breakfast was tasty and different every morning, and choosing to stay in for dinner was a good choice, as it was delicious. Only a few minutes from city centre, this place is a welcome solace, set amongst jungle and birdsong. It is peaceful and tranquil, ensuring you come away rested and rejuvenated. You won't want to leave - I didn't!

This place is absolutely stunning! The house is decorated with so much detail and Suzy and B are lovely hosts that make sure everything for your stay in Kandy is well arranged. They rooms are amazing and contain a ven. The house is just a bit outside Kandy in a quiet and peaceful area, which is really since Kandy can be overwhelmingly busy. The breakfast was the best we had in Sri lanka, from toast with avocado and egg to yoghurt with banana. Absolutely go here if you're looking for an one of a kind experience.

Beautiful family home run by a friendly family offers the best hospitality home stay in town. Homely atmosphere gives the best SriLankan family home experience. Loved the ambiance with family pictures antiques and the garden full of beautiful plants and trees.

I can already tell this will be my favorite place I stay on this trip. Suzy and B and really wonderful hosts and this is a special home and property which is 150 years old and where B grew up. It’s like staying in a museum. The pictures don’t show how special it is. It’s a fun and easy local bus ride to central Kandy. Suzy also reviewed our itinerary for us and gave some great tips. I highly suggest doing the market shopping and cooking class with B and Suzy. All of the meals with them were excellent. We didn’t get a chance to explore all of the different things growing on the property but wish we had.

A really memorable homestay experience in this beautiful 200 year old traditional Sri Lankan home (just outside Kandy) packed full with beautiful antiques and furniture. Really hospitable and friendly hosts. Suzy gave us a wonderful Sri Lankan cooking lesson after we had visited the food market with her husband by Tuk Tuk. The food is truly delicious. A wonderful insight into Sri Lankan life.

It was a great experience, we stayed 2 nights in a room in this fantastic family home, full of antiques and souvenirs from a lot of places. to highlight the hospitality of Suzi and her family, they made us feel at home, a varied and delicious breakfast in a cozy dining room, one of the nights we decided to have dinner there and it should be noted for a lover of cooking like me that it was an excellent choice, Suzi is an excellent cook who, to add more value to her gift, uses local ingredients. The Wifi during our stay was correct, to point out something that could be improved would be the shower, but without a doubt I recommend this experience to everyone who is looking for an alternative option to a conventional hotel. I will be back

Susie and B’s home is quite simply remarkable. A maze of nook and crannies that you could quite easily spend your days in without ever visiting Kandy! That being said they are the perfect distance for easily heading into the city whilst also enjoying the serenity of Sri Lanka. The food was excellent, rooms stunning, the family feel brilliant and our overall stay couldn’t have been better. A must book if your visiting Kandy!
