My wife and I had a very nice 4 night stay at Le Meridien Isle of Pines. The hotel is just a little bit tired, it has a bit of the patina of being used. Some broken tiles, a few gaps in the joins etc. But overall it is quite lovely and daily maintenance is very good. The cleanliness was faultless. I'd read of ants and cockroaches in some reviews. Absolute rubbish. It is very well kept. The location is superb. The facilities like kayaks, snorkelling gear, pool and restaurant were very good indeed. Our cabin on the river was lovely and the bed superbly comfortable. The natural pool had some of the best snorkelling, the variety of marine life and some of the corals were amazing. Fantastic. Swimming, kayaking and snorkelling off the beach was also great. My only disappointment was the evening meals. Our first night I had a tateless over cooked fish dish. The next two nights were very good. On the last night, a Saturday, they have a buffet or you eat in your room. The buffet was 4950 francs ($75 Australian $) each. We don't eat that much and with drinks it was a pretty expensive meal. The quality of the food was very good but it wasn't what we wanted and there is no choice. The staff were lovely. Some can't converse in English but they and we tried and many are fluent in both.

I stayed in a garden view room and it was a very beautiful room. I've stayed at other hotels, and while the other hotels only had shower rooms, this one had a bathtub, so it was nice and spacious. Unfortunately, there was no toothbrush as an amenity. It was nice that we could rent out things like saps and canoes for free.

I stayed at the only 5 star hotel in Nouméa! The location is by the sea, and relaxing on the terrace felt very comfortable! The spa is also famous and comfortable! The breakfast was also very delicious and I would love to stay there again!

I stayed at Meridian because I wanted to go to Pissing Nature. The plan I booked included a transfer fee and a paired massage. The massage felt good and my husband was satisfied. There is only one restaurant so there are no options for meals. I don't think it's delicious at all, but it's expensive. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is very romantic, so I would like to stay there again when I go to Ile des Pins.

We had a wonderful welcome, all the staff smiling and very friendly, always taking care of us, what happiness! The Isle of Pines, "the island closest to paradise", indeed we were really very close to Le Méridien! We look forward to returning!

Let me start with the positive. The beach is beautiful !! Sadly the negatives are more. Being in the minority as an Australian & not speaking fluent French can be a bit of a downfall. But the staff do try a little to speak English. We were so excited to stay in the beach bungalow and when we got inside we were disappointed that it really wasn’t 5 star - it just looked run down. This is not a luxury 5 star resort. The shower overflowed every time we used it and water went everywhere in the bathroom. We were showering in ankle high water. The toilet was wobbly like the whole thing could tip. There was a lot of dust. The deck needed to be upgraded / it was worn down. The breakfast buffet had flies everywhere and inedible. The only thing we ate was an omelette freshly made. The dinner menu was ok. The pool was nice but would have looked so much nicer without the ropes around it and it didn’t look like an infinity pool. We did go to the naturals pool & it was beautiful / we followed one of the reviews here how to get to it & didn’t go the way the hotel said. I highly recommend the way we were told here. I think I wouldn’t go back here. Next time I’ll try a 5 star resort in Fiji. Unless this resort is upgraded to a higher standard. It’s really more 4 Star.

What a wonderful piece of paradise. We stayed for eight nights in a panoramic lagoon view bungalow. The view from the bungalow was fantastic - 2 dugongs fed on the sea grass just off shore for most of the stay.... it was really special to swim, snorkel and kayak with the many turtles who call the lagoon home. The lagoon was a delight... white sand, aqua water at a beautiful temperature. it was awesome to step down into the water directly from our room. Even at low tide there was a decent amount of water in the lagoon for swimming. Our bags were taken directly to our room on room availability and picked up in the last day. It's an easy walk to the Pistine Naturale - we're spoilt being able to go most days for a swim and snorkel. We found wading around the point, down the beach and then up the stream to be our preferred route. The bungalow was great.... a nice lounging area inside and out with a day bed and sun loungers for our exclusive use. The bed was king size with a large bathroom. The bathroom was a little tired but large with separate bath and shower... even a space to store the suitcases which was good after unpacking Be sure to order crepes or eggs ... it's not that obvious that there are others options than what's on display at the breakfast buffet. The food was ok... you really are going here for the locale. Lots of seafood and the local snails. Pros - amazing location - great bungalow - access to the natural pool - super relaxing - not over crowded - not heaps of children - lovely pool - lots of kayaks/sup Suggestions - maybe a ' weekly' change in menu - a glass bottom canoe would be awesome - more of a 'sale' of sight seeing options - it's all very low key and hunt it out yourself - an option for lunch other than sit down to a restaurant meal - they had great baguette, meats, cheese, salad at breakfast--- this would be great at lunch - on arrival the steps to the water from our bungalow were treacherously slippery... we cleaned them off with a sand rub but maybe something could be done about this as it's very dangerous. On our last day we watched a new neighbour carefully negotiate his way down only to take a tumble at the last step I would suggest booking a car etc pick up at Magenta Airport on your way back to Noumea... taxis were few and far between. if you need a taxi order one through the information desk on arrival but it takes a while (we had to order twice before one turned up) . next time we would have booked a pickup. It's pretty hot waiting for the taxi in the direct sun with no shelter/shade. Also make sure you book your transfers on the island as there is no public transport.

Gorgeous location, lovely rooms, food and beverages were consistently good and amazing beach. Francois, Emma and Melvin were very attentive. Highly recommend the short walk to piscine au naturel it’s spectacular. Fresh seafood and snails were delightful. Our group of friends were pleasantly surprised with our bills at check out.
