Best Four Star Hotels in Hobart

A great 5 night stay in the center of Hobart. It exceeded my expectations. Very comfortable clean rooms, good bedding and with good internet access. Importantly one of the few hotels in Hobart with its own parking. It is limited so you have to make reservations prior to your arrival , but then your place is guaranteed. The $20 charge is very reasonable and you can come and go as you please knowing that you will be able to park. The location is hard to beat an easy walk to restaurants , pubs, shops , constitution dock and the Salimanca markets. On top of this the staff were pretty special and made our stay very pleasant. I followed some of their recommendations and was not disappointed. Good coffee comes to mind from one helpful lady when I asked. A stay in the center of Hobart does not come cheap, but I found their price for a stay very acceptable in comparison to other hotels. A glowing report to say the least , but they surprised me with the quality of our stay and helped us very much enjoy Hobart. Thoroughly recommended. Would stay again in a shot when revisiting Hobart. Little bit dated. Booked through Qantas Hotels and somehow was upgraded. ( No requested room available? do not know.) Water shower deluge head is great. Plenty of towels washers etc. The body wash and shampoo bottles are squeeze to actuate, sounds simple doesn't it? Mattress very comfy. Pillow a little firm for me but I did have the choice of 5! You get a kettle and that's it. Fridge opens one way, cupboard door opens opposite way. Not user friendly. Mis mash of cups. No knife or fork. Had to book for a couple of nights the next week but was an extra 50 an night. Thought that was a bit unnecessary for a returning client booking the same room. We had two windy nights and the sliding door widows rattling was enough to keep you awake. Need to be wedged. Location to town. Excellent, walking distance.

Great location - SkyBus from airport costs only 19 aud and drops you just around the corner (instead of 91 aud from airport to city with other means of transportation). Very nice and helpful staff - have a printed list of places and things to do in Hobart. Room - 503 spacious with 2 windows facing some of the harbour and city.

Fabulous room. Large and comfortable with a massive bathroom. Plenty of room to have your toiletries out. Very comfortable bed and pillows. We had a corner room and would request this again on our next stay. Breakfast included in our stay was one the best buffet breakfast we have had. Staff friendly and efficient. No on-site parking but valet parking available. Excellent stay.

We stayed on the 5th floor facing the main road, however the room was very quiet with no noise whatsoever from traffic or adjacent rooms. The staff were extra helpful. If you paid for breakfast it included both continental and hot food with a very wide selection to suit all dietary requirements. The restaurant specialises in Asian meals. The Capitan's Chicken and Potato Curry was a favorite. The rooms were clean and 100% functional as a maintenance feedback form is left in every room. The blackout curtains stopped all the light for those that like to sleep in or get over jet lag. Security was enhanced by room card access to the lifts. It was a 10 minute walk to everything, a 3 minute walk to the Skybus stop and 5 minute walk to the Hop-on-hop-off stop. Good value and recommended.

When you arrive at the Grand Chancellor you will find a tiny front drive that can fit about 4 cars, where you are supposed to be able to park, check in, and then move your car to their underground parking. However, this front drive is not monitored so when we arrived the driveway was completely full with no one there to direct us anywhere. We drove around the block to enter the underground parking and unloaded our bags which we had to carry up the stairs from the parking garage as there was no guest lift that we could easily find (good luck if you have trouble with stairs). At the bottom of the stairs there is a button that you can supposedly use to call someone to assist with your bags. We tried to use this and though we could hear the bell upstairs, it was not answered (even just to let us know that someone would come), so we gave up and carried our bags up the stairs. Upon arrival to the room, we noticed it was clearly very dated. We could see some effort had been made to update the rooms visually but the installations felt very half-****d. For instance instead of a shower curtain for the bath tub there was a half glass pane that is delightfully too short and instead bounces water off its side and onto the floor. A rainfall showerhead had also been installed but it seemed like an afterthought as it was crooked and had poor water pressure. We then tried to use the pool. Upon entry, I felt like I was taken back in time to the days of dark and damp fitness centers and unmaintained pool floors & furniture. There were no staff nearby and the entire area was a mess. Walking into the locker rooms was a shock with horrible banged up smelly lockers (many of which were open but had no key to lock it!) and awful grey blue shiny tiles that bounce the cold flickering white light around. The shared sauna between male and female locker rooms was also a joke. We left without even bothering to get changed or use the pool. We then attempted to dine at the restaurant in the hotel lobby. The host at the front asked if we had a reservation which we did not. He then looked around at the many empty tables as if he was not sure what to do and then asked us to ”wait outside” as he checked availability. We have never been asked to exit any restaurant whilst they searched for a table (even in much busier restaurants) and we were very frustrated by this request. We waited outside over 5 minutes and then decided to leave and ask the front desk staff for other local restaurant recommendations. As we were on our way out, we noticed the restaurant host was hovering nearby as if he had found us a table and was waiting for us to be done but we left without another look. Upon arriving back in our room after dinner and turning off the lights to sleep, we were graced with the hallway light streaming through the large cracks in the poorly fitted door. We had to stuff the cracks with towels, and then cover the strong blue light from the thermostat (which had no function to tur

The hotel is very new, the rooms are comfortable and clean, the facilities are complete, and there is a swimming pool), the location is also very convenient, you can walk to the beach in five or six minutes, on the first day of check-in, the lady at the front desk even upgraded the room for free, the service is very good. I was not feeling well on the last day and applied for an hour late check-out. The front desk of the hotel readily agreed, and I will choose this room again next time I come to Hobart.

Had a recent stay for 3 nights and found it really enjoyable. After a little confusion with parking the car due to street it is located on being a bus thoroughfare, valet parking was prompt and we found we didn't need to get car out again. Great location in the centre of town and easy walking to everything Hobart has to offer. Rooms were very clean, although a little small, bathroom was a generous size although water did flood floor when showering. Did have to order another pillow as ones in room were rock hard. Breakfast was very yummy and buffet option that was offered had more than enough to satisfy. Gym was small with just enough equipment to do a workout. The Chocolate Hour was a bit of a letdown, not what we expected, but still another point of difference. All in all, a really nice stay and we'll certainly wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The induction cooker in the hotel room is too weak, it ’s small and it ’s small. It ’s only for one or two people. It takes a lot of time to cook a meal. Living in room 515, the clothes dryer often stops automatically. The staff checked the door of the dryer with their hands, and then operated automatically, but stopped for more than ten times a night, and then tapped the door again. After drying, the shirts and pants shrank, causing the clothes to fade and become worn. Very poor, only the location is convenient, do not take this price, the Internet is very flat, the name is too real, do not consider staying next time.

Good location, close to the pier, there is a safe in the room, the door is the street, parking is not convenient, I booked a day trip, the tour guide let you pick up at the nearby ibs hotel. Breakfast was not eaten and it was convenient to eat nearby.
