We stayed in the hotel, lovely rooms with everything we needed. Service was great, really kind people running the place :) We had a tasty Sunday Roast. Very happy with the experience

What used to be a gem of a place in a gorgeous location has become truly dreadful. WiFi was non-existent, which is not ideal when it’s also a cell phone signal dead spot. Food was mediocre, service was atrocious. Shower barely functioned so had to try to use the ridiculously small bath to wash. Staff could usually be found outside smoking. Additional charges added without warning, with an initial request that they be settled cash-only…

Wow, we are a local family and would Love love love this place to be amazing... It's just so not. We keep searching for it to be out local however, if this is our local we are really clutching at straws. Having attended on a Sunday you may consider this a tradition pub grub aka roast menu. However, the loaded fries (frozen chips undercooked, overpriced and very underwhelming) would make you uneasy about attending. The chicken wings (another starter) were overcooked aka dry and looking a little (a lot ) like we should have stopped in the KFC en route to the pub! In summary... (unfortunately) don't waste your money or time in this pub. It could be so much more. Such.a Shame

Run down smelly building. Old beds and sheets. Road is very loud. Loud guests so no sleep. Horrible experience thank god my mother is deaf!

It’s a quaint pub built in the 1700s I believe. The room was nice however there was no water pressure in the shower and the bathroom was oddly put together. It would be a nice pun to eat or drink at, but I wouldn’t recommend staying in a room.

Pitch dark car park with lots of trip hazards. No food available several nights of the week. Damp, draughty, noisy room with peeling wall paper. I refused to stay in the hotel and left within 5 minutes. Unable to get refund. Not sure how the single other review was 10 !

A wonderfully quirky hotel in a lovely old village with plenty of history & loads of great places to visit within a short distance.

My wife and I had booked a stay at The George and Dragon, High Street, West Wycombe for Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th June. On arrival we were greeted by young, polite and courteous staff and shown to our room. The bed linen was clean and fresh, but the mattress was so soft and springy that it was like trying to sleep on a trampoline. The bar was cosy and the outside garden was very pleasant. The restaurant was rustic and the food was of good quality. The décor of the room could do with some renewing. The shower had mould in it that could easily be cleaned off with HJ or any other proprietary mould cleaner. The light and extractor in the shower cubical did not work nor did the extractor in the toilet wash room. Our main concern was the fact that on the Saturday to Sunday night we were awakened by someone entering the room having used a key make entry to the room, this being 02.02 hours. Having shouted at the person who then say “Sorry wrong room” closed the door and left, this incident really shook my wife up and neither of us could get back to sleep concerned that whoever had entered the room would return. On departure from the hotel we spoke with a young staff member and relayed our concerns about what had occurred earlier that morning and he contacted the night porter who informed the staff member that it was him who had entered the room as the spare keys were left in the key cabinet and he was checking the room for cleaning. Feeling this was not a satisfactory explanation for what had occurred, we asked to speak to a manager but there was not one available. I asked that someone make contact with me re this incident. I then sent an E-mail on Sunday 25th June of my complaint and asked that the hotel owner Mr Salim Hasham Virani be informed of this incident, which I received a short reply from Sean Ryan later that day stating, "I will pick this up on Tuesday afternoon when I am back in the business my senior team nor myself around till then. Mr Virani as you stated does indeed own the hotel however has a team to deal with such incidents which is me. I spoke with (the staff member I had spoken with) this morning and with the night porter on shift last night and will revert back in due course". I also wrote a letter to the hotel owner a week later as i had not heard back from Mr Ryan. To date I have still not received any further response. There are a number of issues here 1. Why does the night porter feel that he has to go round checking rooms for cleaning at 02.00 hours. 2. What would have happened if the occupant of the room was a lone female, or as we are an elderly couple (we are both in our 70’s). 3. What if the room occupant had been a younger male and not taking the night porters explanation at face value took out their own retribution for the invasion of their privacy. 4. The key safe/cabinet is right next to the entrance to the hotel and the pub bar and I saw that it was not locked thus giving access to the keys by anyone either sta

The initial impression as you approach is deceptive, the buildings are quirky and attractive, oozing history and promising something special. Step through the door and the illusion is almost immediately shattered, there is an air of decay and a total lack of care, grubby paintwork, blown plaster, dirty carpets. Check in was easy and we were shown to our allocated room, the website promises - Each of the ten characterful bedrooms boast 18th & 19th century antique furniture, complemented by en-suite facilities, contemporary artwork and modern comforts. What a load of tosh! Room 11 in particular is a shock to say the least! The toilet in a wardrobe is a particular quirk that I for one can live without. We fed back concerns and were moved to room 12, initial appearances slightly better, a bathroom not in a wardrobe was an improvement, however the burnt carpet, lights hanging off the ceiling, and general air of neglect was not great. Although there was a TV, that wasn’t working because there was an issue with the ariel apparently! Within an hour a visit from the staff to tell us that although we could have the new room for one night we would have to go back to the original room of doom for our second night because they were fully booked! I checked and websites indicated at least 3 rooms available so quite what was going on I’m not sure. Obviously assumed we were stupid! Other points to note are dirty shower, ridiculous water pressure in the shower, no warning about the serious road noise and very inexperienced staff. We left early the next morning and will be pursuing a refund. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until there is some serious TLC lavished on what should be a gorgeous coaching inn stay.
