Warm welcome at reception, then taken to a table with a lovely view over the countryside; timing us everything, so could have any table but would still have been very nice. Afternoon tea consists of a petite mixture of sandwiches, two scones (plain and fruit) and clotted cream and jam, and mini cakes, and of course your choice of pot of tea. We enjoyed it very much, full upon leaving. We were looked after by Zak, very hospitable and chatty thus making us very comfortable; thank you. Recommend for setting, price and easy parking.

On arrival found staff to be very friendly. . Beautiful location. Excellent food - dinner menu was varied. Beef was superb. Drinks not too expensive. Would definitely recommend and will return when needing an overnight treat. Thank you very much.

We were there celebrating a special birthday, having researched I contacted them direct and got a great package. We were welcomed warmly with complimentary drinks on top of our package. We stayed in the feature suite which was a lovely bright room, clean and spacious with good views. Afternoon tea was amazing but we were the only ones there on a blustery Monday afternoon. Had pre dinner cocktails in the warm and friendly bar area, there were plenty of people there so quite buzzy. Dinner was fab we enjoyed everything and the service was brilliant. Breakfast was OK and All staff made us welcome and nothing too much trouble.

Lovely hotel, nice welcome feel when you enter, all staff were polite and friendly. Room was large clean and lovely views over the countryside. Had a glass of fizz in the bar before making our way for dinner. Food was very good. Beds were large and comfortable and had a great nights sleep. Would definitely recommend this place and we will return soon.

We stayed here after finding a deal on secret escapes. We really enjoyed it, staff great, food fab and had a great night sleep. It was cosy , warm and welcoming. Lovely view from our bedroom window. Mini bar in room fantastic, not over priced either. Would definitely return!

Very dog friendly, and superb staff. Good variety of choices for breakfast. Also for evening meals, although they seemed a tad pricey. The room was fine, but it was the helpfulness and service from the staff that was the standout feature of our stay.

We stayed here on one of their special deals which included cream tea, a £50 credit toward dinner, and bed and breakfast along with a glass of fizz on arrival. The cream tea was nice, it was a choice of tea or coffee and two scones each with jam and cream. The fizz was also a nice prosecco. Dinner was a very hit and miss experience, and although I gave the staff at the time a chance to fix it, and the receptionist the next morning another chance, nobody was interested. Our starters were lovely as was my wife's venison; my sirloin steak was not. Whilst it was perfectly medium-rare, it was as tough as old boots and it had little taste. For near £30 it was unacceptable and I ate about half of it before just giving up as it was unpleasant. Even their steak knife didn't want to cut through it. The staff member on the evening explained that due to the way the sirloin is cut it is sometimes very tough. If that is the case then they should warn customers as I would not have chosen the steak. She apologised for the lack of flavour and then, once we said we didn't want a third course, she disappeared and after waiting an age we left never having seen the bill. Next morning I was surprised to find service charge on the bill, but I paid it; nobody offered me an invoice on the evening and we were sat in the bar for an hour after (most of which was spent waiting for someone to serve us). The receptionist didn't inquire as to how our stay was so I told her of my dissatisfaction with the steak, she simply shrugged and said sorry and turned back to a wedding party that had just arrived. I buy steaks from Lidl (at about £4 each) and I produce a far nicer steak than their £29 sirloin was. I suggest they switch to Lidl as the butcher if that is the quality of their current supplier's steak, as the staff member suggested, because we have never had a duff one from them. Service was patchy, it was very attentive in the afternoon but by 9.30pm it was anything but. The room was comfortable, although the kitchen fans being switched on in the morning woke me up quite early. Breakfast was nicely done. For a £300 stay including dinner, bed, breakfast, cream tea and drinks we were far from impressed.

My wife and I stayed for a couple of nights while visiting Gloucester. This is a beautiful hotel with incredible views, especially from the raised decking area. Plenty of parking; which is always welcome. The room was clean and well presented (no complimentary biscuits in the room though). The breakfast was very nice. What made the breakfast even more special, was the staff who gave us a friendly, warm welcome and the lady supervisor was extremely accommodating. A few minor issues, the stair carpet in the annex (where we stayed) could do with renewing and the price for a drink at the bar was too high. The taxi fare from the hotel to the town was around £18 but prompt. Would I recommend this hotel….. yes! Would I stay here again ……..yes!

After reading reviews about the wonderful countryside views I booked for my husbands 60th through Secret Escapes. We booked an executive room but were given a classic room which overlooked the car park. and wasn't in the main hotel, we were given no choice of time for breakfast and dinner as there was a large wedding that day and priority was given to them even though they were being entertained in a marquee. We had to park in an overflow car park which was a muddy field, the carpet in the corridor was a disgrace, the room was shabby, various issues including black mold around the window. We had no sleep as the noise from the guests went on till after 4.00am. If we had known about the wedding we would not have booked. Emailed the hotel and received no response so wrote to the manager to complain, still no reply. Having stayed at many hotels this is the worst so I suggest you make sure there are no large functions taking place on the day you want to stay.
