Would definately recommend. Great location, friendly staff, clean pool. Green grass... I mean this far north that's amazing, the well kept grass is perfect for tents and ball games which is a great change to camping on hard ground. Clean toilet block with hot showers, and laundry facilities. Campers kitchen offers everything you need for your travels. The manager works the site with assistance of family and an odd volunteer as they pass through. I noticed many people coming through the park trying to take advantage of it, such as asking to use public toilets (plenty of noticea advising of no public toilets). Respect traveller's use the shop, buy something like you do in a truck stop and the facilities come with the purchases. This is such a unique caravan park offering tranquility, fabulous sunsets and the opportunity to reset. We have been here every year for the last 6 years now and will continue to do so, day trips to Denham and Carnavon, and as stop off for journeys to Exmouth. No Wi-fi, Telstra signal is fine but that's the same throughout most of this region. Grab a pay as you go card before travelling :)

Caravan and campsites seemed ok, and the pool was cool and clean. The lady running it was friendly, chatty and helpful. However, i don’t currently recommend staying in the few dongas they have on site. There is no running water and no plumbing from the drain in the sink. The smell of the donga we were in was truly awful, made my daughter feel sick and the bedding didn’t seem clean. I don’t think the quilt covers would have been washed or changed for months. The bed sheets did seem washed (??) but the pillows still smelt like someone’s oily hair and I wasn’t sure they had been washed or changed at all. The towels were clean. The surfaces of the fridge, microwave etc were covered in dirt and I wiped them down myself. I was too wary to tempt use of the kettle or toaster. My kids remarked that the cleanest part of the donga was the floor. Yikes! Toilet and shower were a separate very small shared donga. Sorry to have to write an unfavourable review for any business doing their best with nice people. To their credit, they weren’t ripping people off with bookings related to the Exmouth eclipse, unlike other caravan parks closer to Exmouth billing people for 2 nights but charging for 4 nights or charging them the weekly rate for 2 nights. The Hamelin managers had scruples re this. Perhaps the managers could benefit with paying someone to come in and help them do a deep clean of the dongas top to bottom, side to side, and then help them maintain the cleanliness every couple of months? Do note that the sunsets here over Shark Bay are stunning if you walk up the hill - bring your camera. The shell quarry is interesting - imagine the history when they figured they could cut building bricks from compressed shells! A seafood restaurant in Denham is built with them. The boardwalk to the stromatolites is currently closed as it hasn’t been repaired since the storms a couple of years ago. You can go down there but it’s currently fenced off. Last comment - there’s no wifi and the only reception you can get is if you are with Telstra (outside the manager’s control). Happy travels

The app only allows a low score of 1 - I would rate lower if I could. Only booked for an overnight stay. The sites are shell base, common to the area and reasonably well defined. There is only bore water and need to provide your own drinking water which we knew when we booked. The toilets (gents) smell like an old pub toilet which takes a bit of getting used to. The hand basins are equipped with hand towels which were always wet - no air dryer or paper hand towels. The entire place including the shop and cafe is in serious need of updating and a lot of TLC. The web site says that its a powered site but is in fact limited - no microwave or other high draw items or you might trip the generator for the whole site. Will not include this as a stop in future trips.

I was not expecting much as this was our stopover on the way to Exmouth but wow it was way worse than expected! Our accommodation was an old dodgy donga, the cloth that was provided to clean the dishes looked and smelled like it was 100 years old, the BBQ's don't work as it is so windy there and the burners are so far away from the hot plate we tried to cook dinner for ages with no success. And the icing on the cake was when I woke in the morning to find a red back in my bed. We could not get out of their fast enough, would never ever go back.

Staff were friendly and chatty. Location is great. That were all the positives end. Grounds themselves looked ok for caravans or camper trailers. The camp kitchen was questionable, and we preferred to not use it. The place is very tired and in need of some serious work. However, the Dongas that we stayed in were truly AWEFUL and didn't look like it had been cleaned in weeks. There was mold on the shower curtains and also on some parts of the roof. The shower itself was broken and the shower head barely worked. The end of the beds we stayed in were also broken. Given the state of the rooms - it was doubtful the bedding had been recently washed. I can't understand how these rooms could be charged out at at all. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control we had no choice but to stay over night due to accommodation issues at our preferred site which was elsewhere.

Close to beach where you can see Stromatolites in the distance - the boardwalk is still closed off after a cyclone a few years ago Campsite was ok, only bore water though so make sure you have drinking water with you Kitchen needed hot tap repairing and you had to boil water on gas stove to be able to wash up

Had a lovely 2 night stay here. Refreshing swim in the pool after very hot days. Caretaker is lovely and likes a chat. Very quiet and spacious. Toilets are oldish but clean and hot water showers although bore water were OK. Can't have more than 2 electrical items working at the same time but didn't cause us sny I convenience.

We booked and paid for 2 rooms & after driving 30km off the highway to get there we were told by a supposed volunteer at the filthy shop/reception on arrival we that our rooms had been sold to someone else. The volunteer who was also dirty looking like he'd never washed & dressed in filthy clothes that didn't look like they had ever been washed either offered us alternative accomodation with shared bathrooms, the alternative accomodation turned out to be a broken down derelict donga that I wouldn't put my dog in. After much haggling he made a phone call to the owner and was able to give me a refund.

Originally booked 4 nights, 10 days before rang to reduce it by 1 because of travel logistics, was reminded of no refunds. On booking in reminded again, but when I asked if I could stay longer to use my cancelled night, was told that that site was now booked by someone else. And make sure you have exactly $10 for the key, change for bigger notes can be an issue. Power is limited to light appliances only and water is bore water. Boardwalk to the Stromatolites is broken after storm 16 months ago( come on WA parks) Wanted to do the Telegraph Office tour only to be told, not available due to staff shortage. However, the showers and toilets are adequate and clean, the swimming pool looks clean and inviting if it was a tad warmer and I found the shell quarry and the cockle shell beach interesting. I would suggest drive further and pay more at Denham.
