Rydges Palmerston - Darwin, an EVT hotel

1. Check in wasn’t easy. Long story short…our room wasn’t ready but it was, then it wasn’t, then it was. This went back and forward about half a dozen times. In the end it wasn’t completely ready, so we had takeaway lunch on the balcony while they readied the room. 2. We had a lot of luggage and we’re told to park close to the back door to bring it in. I suggest maybe having a luggage trolley at the back as well as the front. 3. There is a little car that has obviously been parked in the car park for a while now as it has plenty of dust and cobwebs on it. It needs to be removed. 4. It’s not a secure car park, but surely it could be enclosed in like the other side? We saw a “local” wandering in & out of the cars & also our tonneau cover on our car had been opened. 5. We stayed 5 nights and when I dropped the keys back I was not asked how our stay was or not even a thank you for staying there.

Apartment was clean and well appointed . Location was good, close to shops and cafes/restaurants. Parking available, free in open car park but limited spots. Underground secure parking at a cost if $10 a day. Needed to have shower head replaced as it kept falling off ,notifed reception fixed that day. Drier In room going into fault mode, had to use guest laundry downstairs, as not able to get service personnel to fix during stay. Housekeeping were friendly but there didn't seem to be a set time or it changed daily. Overall happy with room and service.

Mercure Darwin Airport Resort

Take a look at the bathroom photos and you will know the level. The cold water pipe woman can't move, otherwise she can only take a hot shower... In addition, the water in the refrigerator at the front desk is not clearly marked, and the two waters are a cola of 13 Australian dollars. VISA also has a 1.5 fee. The debit card can't be spent for a long time. Fortunately, there are coins... Want to cross the hotel back to 50 years ago? Welcome to come here... but Ctrip customer service is really good, timely response
Darwin Poinciana Inn

This place is now called Poinciana Inn, same location. I was arriving after 1am from the airport as many Darwin flights do. I called twice to ask how to get access to my room, didn't get a callback until some time later, the person on the phone said I'd been sent an email days earlier but I checked and I never received it, not even in my spam email, but after the 3rd phone call I sorted out how to access my room after hours. The room itself is small, there's marks on the walls, not much more than a TV and kettle and fridge in the room itself, at least the aircon worked, I don't know how they can justify $123 a night with such a low maintained place, if I'd known it was this badly kept I would've gone to a backpackers hostel instead. It's definitely overpriced for what you get. The bed was comfortable, the pool was lovely, the location is great, that's about it. The ensuite is small, there's maybe 4 powerpoints in the whole place for charging a phone and other things and 2 of those were used by the TV and kettle, and while I was recovering from arriving at 2am I got a knock on my door that same morning from someone wanting to check the maintenance my air conditioning unit. There has to be better places in Darwin CBD than this. Maybe go for Airbnb next time, finding anything under $150 a night is almost impossible unless you're 15 to 30 minutes out of the city.

The hotel is not far from the airport, but the hotel's facilities are quite simple. It is OK to stay for one night. Fortunately, the hotel's bathroom is clean.
