Being an avid traveler, I have been hundreds of places in India and abroad. Trust me, this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. We were a group 15 family members and all echoed the same thoughts. a. Our room category was Executive king room which they claim to be 269sqft in their website, trust me its not even 125 sqft. room is extremely small, you would keep on bumping into bed and other things. if you are a family with 2-3 suitcases, you wont even have a space to keep your luggage on the floor. we used to open one luggage at a time. It was such a shabby-dingy room with hanging balcony. one of the glasses of balcony railing was missing. b. breakfast was okayish and very slow service. food quality was ok. c. now comes the most horrific part, they keep the shutter of the main entrance/exit down at night with no security or hotel personnel at your disposal. meaning if you face any emergency or god forbid there is any extreme accident/calamity happens in hotel (read fire) then you have no option but to find yourself locked inside the hotel with shutter kept down and locked from the outside. d. kitchen staff lacks basic understanding of hindi/english language - we ordered dinner and later decided to add more portions to it, the same was communicated to kitchen staff which they understood as cancellation they cancelled our previous order for dinner which was 4 portions each of everything and served us only one portion. Imagine our condition- we were 15 people to eat and as per new rule, everything (literally everything) closes in darjeeling at 9.30pm . we had to settle down for boiled rice and salt. e. room service is rude-if you decide to order tea/coffee/bread in your room, be ready to face the brunt of room service people. they show attitude and treat you as if they are doing you a big favour by sending chargeable food in your room. also the tea sucks. dont even think of ordering it. f. front desk/reception - beware and check your bill carefully, the front desk is weak in calculation and posting of bills. they tried to charge us for 4 nights, whereas we stayed for only 3 nights and then tried to justify the overcharging us by giving vague excuses. trust me, we had a hard time getting our bills cleared in time. Overall we had a nightmarish experience in staying at Central Heritage. Only one good thing about the hotel is the food taste. some of the things like - chicken curry, thai chicken, is good in taste, but portion is very small. only 1.5 people with basic appetite can feed on one portion.
