Hotel Nikko is a throwback to the 1990's. It is well maintained and very comfortable hotel. In fact, I moved from another 5 star hotel to this one mid weekend. The decor is a little dated, BUT of the 3 hotels in downtown Dalian that I have used over this last year I think Nikko is my favorite. Their service is excellent. The food is good. (Breakfast is great and the Japanese restaurant is good) The atmosphere of the hotel is very nice and upscale. I like that there is a Lawson's near the lobby, in the adjoining office/apartment building. When I called to request they lower the temperature in my room, they said they could not adjust the thermostat; however, they did offer me a fan. Within 5 minutes housekeeping brought a very nice standing fan which worked great. My next trip downtown I think I'll start with Hotel Nikko.

I can safely say Intercontinental is one of the best hotels in Dalian after having stayed in many Dalian hotels. For starters we got a room upgrade and early check in and late check out. The hotel also gave us complimentary coffee and fruit soon after checking in. The room was clean, comfortable, modern and had a gorgeous city view. The amenities were satisfactory and their Breakfast buffet had a wide range of Western and Chinese cuisine to choose from. Special thanks to Jason from the fitness centre and Winnie and Kevin from the front desk for their excellent service they especially made sure our stay was enjoyable. The only downside is that I think the Chinese restaurant staff could use some training the service there was the least professional but in my opinion it didn't takeaway from the overall experience.

I've stayed at this location multiple times. It is a good location and I enjoy the house band in the pub (located in the basement). The Kempeski is definitely showing its ago, however. The marblework in the bathroom is cracked and some of the flooring is stained. The public bathroom (to the right of the lobby) is in desperate need of a makeover, i.e. recaulk the edges of the lavatory and do a deep steam cleaning of all tile. Breakfast was superb and the wait staff was doing a great job turning tables around for the next customers. I would probably stay again, but only if the prices are reduced.

I stayed in an executive room. The service provided by the executive lounge team was amazing (actually the best I have received in China). The breakfast and afternoon tea in the lounge was amazing. One day I went to the buffet for breakfast and was disappointed by the cleanliness of it, so I decided to just eat at the lounge. The laundry team was also great. They noticed one of my dresses had a small issue so they fixed it. Most of the staff spoke at least some English, it was the first time in China that even the housekeeper could speak English.

To play in Dalian for five days, I chose the whole season considering various factors. I read the comments and said that there is a KTV opposite the hotel. It was too noisy to sleep at night. After checking in, I was shocked when I looked out the window. It was really a karaoke hall. I stayed very quiet for a few nights, but the room is really small, although it is a larger zero-pressure twin room, fortunately there is a small table and a place to sit, which is more convenient. The facilities in the room are not bad, the lights are bright, the switch position is good, it is convenient to use, and the pillows are comfortable. Many reviews said that the breakfast was poor, and I didn’t believe it at first, because booking from Ctrip, the package early is 100 yuan more expensive than no one. I didn’t expect it to be really ordinary. I would spend 500 yuan more for this kind of breakfast for five days. It's not worth it, but the most uncomfortable thing is the dining environment. I don’t know if it’s to save electricity. I didn’t turn on the exhaust fan in the kitchen or the air conditioner in the restaurant for the first three days. After breakfast, I not only sweated but also smelled like fried eggs. Eat to escape quickly. I sympathize with the guests who live on the first floor, because the smell of fried eggs fills the elevator corridor on the first floor. By the way, the so-called first floor is the ba*****t. You can see its antique style through the elevator decoration, but the interior is indeed well maintained. It should have been very high-end back then, and the hotel management was good. The hotel's marketing is very good. The elevators were full in the mornings during my stay for a few days, and the office buildings were busy during the morning rush hour. It seemed that many companies were holding meetings here, conducting trainings, etc., so there were quite a lot of people staying. The airline also uses this place as a dormitory, and there are many stewardesses. The hotel service can only be described as so-so, not very enthusiastic, but still professional and meticulous. The furniture and facilities are relatively old and the hygiene is average. Breakfast was not booked, so I didn’t experience it.

This hotel was in a great location as next to railway and metro station. Unfortunately the power was cut off for the entire block. It was fortunate that the hotel was able to refund part of the stay. I had to checkout when the power was cut off again the following night. This isn’t the fault of the hotel but they tried their best in a bad situation. When I checked in they brought tray of snacks and a letter explaining how they were sorry they could not speak English. This was a nice touch and I commend the front staff for their sincerity. The only reason I took off a star was that the hallway carpet was in an old state and could use an overhaul. Other than that great staff and hotel.
