Overcharged from the bookings.com rate I was quoted. No smoking room smelled of cigarettes, slept on the same sheets for two weeks There are random people standing at the front door smoking under the no smoking sign

I travel for business regularly and I think I have a good representation of what to expect in this price range for a hotel room. This was by far the worst place I have seen, and after viewing the room they offered me, I refused to stay here. In the lobby were 2 people roaming around with no masks on when I was checking in. The parking lot felt as though you were going to have no wheels left in the morning. The room was very dark and dirty looking. The bed had black hair on the sheets. Looks NOTHING like the rooms they are advertising on the website. When I told them I wasn't going to stay there, the front desk attendant informed me that I had to pay for the first night as that's the cancellation policy. When I proceeded to other hotels in the area to secure a room, I was told that the Travelodge is housing homeless people due to Covid 19 affecting the shelter downtown. Although I have absolutely no issue with that concept, i don't feel they should be selling rooms to the general paying public. They have really missed the mark on what they are offering, do not stay at this hotel. For the same money there is many options in Chilliwack that are ten times better. After I called to complain to the parent company Wyndham, I was told that they are independent and I had to call them myself. More runarounds, can't get a return call from the managers at Travelodge to resolve the issue. Absolutely the worst customer service I have experienced.
