One&Only Cape Town

Waterfront Cape Town|0.14km from Two Oceans Aquarium
One&Only Resorts strive to offer “unique experiences that guests were looking for, but didn’t know they were looking for.” Indeed. I knew this stay was going to be special the moment my designated host presented me with a notebook imprinted with a single word and definition: “Ubuntu. I am because we are.” I don’t speak Zulu nor presume to understand this philosophy after a few days but I am intrigued. It seems to turn the foundations of centuries of western thought defining individualism on its head. Instead of Descartes, “Cogito, ergo sum,” it’s “I exist as a person through other people.” Mind blowing! And yet ubuntu suffuses the One&Only Cape Town experience, manifesting in exceptional personalization, caring, generosity of spirit, respect, teamwork and service with alacrity. The hotel promises rooms and suites that are “the largest in the city.” I believe them. Perhaps I was confused with a VIP, but I received an unexpected upgrade. I did receive a puzzling note from the Guest Experience Manager welcoming me as “a guest of ******* Incorporated” (I have no affiliation with ******* and don’t believe I have ever even used *******… and I certainly didn’t stay as their guest). Regardless of the reason, my one-bedroom Island Grand Suite was enormous. The hotel website indicates a size of 1948 sq ft. but it seemed even larger to me. Spotless, stylish bedroom, bathroom with freestanding soaking tub and dual sinks on opposing walls, walk-in closet, built-in dresser, powder room, living room with fireplace, dining for six indoors and four outdoors, pantry and full kitchen with a professional range and appliances, fully stocked complimentary (except for alcohol) minibar and refreshment center. It made me wish I had some friends in Cape Town to invite over. The suite was not only larger than my first apartment, it was larger (and much more opulently appointed) than my first house. If, like Winston Churchill, you’re a bath enthusiast, there’s no need to choose among bath foam, salts or oil – you have your choice of all three. One fun quirk was that the taps in the bathroom had the cold on the left and hot on the right. In the hall powder room this was reversed with hot on the right and cold on the left. I don’t know if this is a South African tradition or just a technique to distinguish between the two facilities. Then there are the birds. This is not an issue for the Marina Rise main hotel rooms, but only the “Island Suites” surrounding “the largest free form infinity pool in the Southern Hemisphere.” At the far end of the pool there is a waterfall where various ducks, geese, seagulls and other waterfowl splash and preen their feathers. Most of the time this is creates a peaceful, bucolic scene. But then there are other times when the birds go full send Hitchcock in a Hobbesian war of all against all, battling each other with an ear-shattering cacophony of screeches, cries and general divebombing mayhem, all of which comes to a head in the hours immedia

Location in the safest area of Cape Town, 5 minutes walk from Fisherman's Wharf, with its super-large Victorian shopping centre and everything you need. The hotel rooms are comfortable, well equipped, and there are small gifts for children, very intimate! And fortunately, here for the first time abroad to see the total eclipse. The surroundings are also elegant and very satisfied!

I'm curious why Chinese tourists don't comment on Ctrip. I stayed for four nights and would like to share with you my objective experience of staying. The room is very small. Although the family room has been upgraded, there are two small beds in each of the two separate small rooms, which basically takes up the room space. The facilities are a bit old. Although the faucet and hardware are Hansgrohe, and the toilet is also a famous brand, they are still a bit old and cannot be compared with domestic hotels of the same price. After talking about the bad points, let’s talk about the highlights: the breakfast is very good, with a variety of varieties, and the service is in place. The restaurant is on the other side of the hotel, you need to pass through the Business School of the University of Cape Town, and you can see the Victoria Pier. The location is also very convenient: it is convenient for eating, shopping, and sightseeing. It feels like it is on the edge of the business district, suitable for walking and shopping.

We stayed only one night but the room was exceptional. Well stocked with a hot pot and coffee maker. Really good complimentary shortbread and hot chocolate mix. The room was quiet although in the Wahrf district. From the outside, the building was a little dated but inside first class all the way. The redone bathroom was luxurious--I felt I had to take a bath, bath salts and foam included. And the included breakfast makes this a place I would easily want to stay again.

Waterfront
Advantages: It is close to the waterfront, the room is okay, and the space is large, with a separate living room. Disadvantages: Although it is close to the waterfront, the front and back buildings perfectly block all the landscape, and the waterfront and the Table Mountain cannot be seen. The worst part is that the hot water in the room is not automatic. My partner and I turned around for a long time and found a button. The water wasted for a long time. One person finished washing the other without hot water ... The worse thing is, A 1,000zar deposit was charged. My partner and I forgot to take the deposit when checking out, and they did not remind me. Then we took the deposit bar to retrieve the deposit, saying that the envelope in which our deposit was placed was missing, and we asked him to adjust the monitoring. One of them said that they could not take money from other places, but that the person in charge of the monitoring room was not there. We have to wait for the buddy who checked out the next day to come to work to pay the deposit. We also left our contact information and said that it resolved it and called us, but we did n’t call until the next day. Fortunately, we did n’t rush to rush the plane that day. The next day we went to get the money and the little brother took it out. 1000zar returned to us. I think as a hotel, the deposit bar is the proof that you owe the customer money. No matter where you keep the deposit, it should be returned unconditionally at the first time. If you do n’t lose your envelope, do n’t dare us. Those who check in must remember to take the deposit bar, we are fortunate to save it this time, otherwise they will be hacked. As a large hotel, the quality of employees is very problematic.

Waterfront
My husband and I stayed for 5 nights recently with a spacious room on floor 1 facing the harbour (I highly recommend this floor as the rooms we are told are larger). We had a nice sitting area by the windows, and the bathroom was large and nicely designed and well lit. The robes were SO SO soft!! The bed was a tad soft but still comfortable. We had an included breakfast daily which was quite good with several delicious hot items on the menu. The porters outside were exceptionally helpful -- we used Uber several times, and they went to the street to ensure they drove in to get us. The location is fantastic with a perfect view of Table Mountain and the harbour, and of course the Waterfront restaurants and shops are right there. My only suggestion to the hotel is that the rooms need a deep cleaning -- some of the upholstered furniture is stained, and the bath grout needs cleaning too. Otherwise things were perfectly clean.
