Meriton Suites Herschel Street, Brisbane

I am very satisfied with the hotel. If I come to Brisbane next time, I will definitely stay here again. Our room was on the 71st floor with a great view. There are two bedrooms, a living room, a small study room, a small kitchen, two bathrooms, and a laundry room. It is very spacious. The kitchen has ovens, microwave ovens, dishwashers, pots, plates, bowls, cutlery, cooking spatulas, knives, cutting boards, and even dishwashing sponges, rags, and dishwashing powder. If you want to cook by yourself, you can just buy ingredients and seasonings, and you can also ask the front desk for a rice cooker. The laundry room has a washing machine, a dryer, a laundry basket, and a bottle of laundry detergent, which is enough for one time. It is so blissful to have a washing machine when you are away from home. There is a cafe on the right hand side when you go downstairs, and there is no problem in solving breakfast. The location is also good, we went to several attractions in the city, City Hall, Queen Street, South Bank Park, all within walking distance. It is very close to Roma station, where you can take a car to the Koala Park and the airport. Buy a go card, download the my translink app, you can easily plan public transportation, and you can also display the fare. When I left, I took a DiDi, which cost more than 40 Australian dollars, which was cheaper than taking the air train for three people.

Great Southern Hotel Brisbane

This hotel is just a 5 min walk to the Queen Street Mall and also very close to the Treasury ******. I arrived at about 2:00pm (the set check inn time), but a large tour group was also trying to check inn. So I let my luggage and came back latter. My room was located on Level 12, and at the back of the building. As the hotel is opposite a construction site, it was wise to have a room facing the back of this building. The view is nothing exceptional - just a small courtyard with taller buildings surrounding the hotel. The room was very spacious with a comfortable sofa-chair and lamp to view the TV (from a distance). The internet was hit and miss. There are two connections. One free with lower internet speeds and another network for $5 with higher speeds. I was given access to the higher speed network for free when visiting the reception for voucher. Some times the internet connection was exceptional but often it dropped out and you have to reconnect several times. The bathroom was very modern and shower was fulled enclosed with glass door, rather than a shower curtain. However, note there are two issues with the bathroom. The toilet is not accustomed too much paper, and was often blocked. (fortunately there is bathroom brush provided to unblock the toilet). Secondly, there seems to be some problem with the drain under the sink, that was letting water in to the bathroom floor. Hap to mop up the wet floors, using towels, which I put over the drain. Despite these problems, I would still recommend this hotel. It represents good value for money in a prime location.

Opera Apartments South Brisbane
4.3/562 Reviews
To be honest, I'm not sure how Opera Apartments South Bank has such a high rating. Here's a breakdown of the good and bad. Good: o Fully equipped kitchen o Balcony with outdoor table and chairs o WiFi is good at >50/50 Mbps. o The rooftop pool and BBQ areas are nice. The pool is a great place from which to watch the sunset. o Fantastic location. Very convenient for attending conferences at the exhibition centre. Bad: o Cockroaches in our bathroom and kitchen! Once it was dark, cockroaches came out in our bathroom and kitchen. On the first night, we killed four in the bathroom and two in the kitchen. o The front door has no signage to indicate where to enter Opera apartments. The door to enter the building does not automatically open and often the reception is unattended. So you have to use the keypad at the door to even gain entry to the building. We saw lots of new arrivals who were left very confused by the system. o We arrived at 12:30 pm and checked in, but as check-in time is not until 2 pm we dropped our luggage and then went off to grab lunch and coffee. We returned at 2 pm but were advised that our room still wasn't ready. We were told the room would be ready at 2:40 pm. Since we had already had lunch, we had nothing to do but sit around in the reception area until our room was ready. At 2:47 pm we were advised that the room would be ready in 10 mins. The room was then ready at 2:57 pm. When we entered the room it had a chemical smell and the kitchen floor was still wet after cleaning. o The walls were covered in dust. Additionally, all the air conditioning vents were caked with dust. There was an insane amount of dust behind the bed. As someone with allergies, we had to be very careful not to disturb the dust otherwise I would have been sneezing the whole time. o No tissues were provided. o No towels were provided for the pool. o The hallway had an unpleasant smell. Then the room also smelt but it was a completely different unpleasant smell. o The tv was fairly small. Only about 40”. o We were on level 3 and we couldn't have our balcony door open as there was a loud noise from air conditioning units under us and the building next door. With the door closed though the noise of the air-conditioning units outside wasn't an issue (but then you're trapped with the smell!) Overall, I do not recommend Opera Apartments South Bank. Complete waste of money. Still traumatised from all the cockroaches coming out during the night and the smell in the apartment.
Comfort Hotel Pacific Cleveland
3.2/563 Reviews
The main reason for this low rating is on the basis of disability access. While booking and getting a wheelchair accessible room was fine, we didn't know until we arrived that the reception, indeed, ANY staff, finished at 2.00pm on Sunday. The problem was that the ONLY access in or out was via the fire escape! The lady who booked us in said that we only had to ring and she would come and open the front door for us, the inference being that she lived onsite. We told her that we would be out with friends, including dinner, until about 10.30pm. She assured us that it was fine and she would let us in. We arrived back at 9.45pm and rang the designated number but were informed that we had been forgotten and some family/friends would come and let us in. They arrived in two cars, after we waited for 25 minutes. When we went down the corridor to our room, the security doors between our room and the lobby were firmly locked. If there was a fire I would have had to get my wheelchair down 4 flights of stairs in the Fire Escape as the only possible exit. In the morning, we went to leave at 08.30 and discovered that we were trapped until that point. We rang the designated mobile number for the onsite manager to come and let us out - it took 30 mins and it was obvious that the minibus idling outside had just delivered her from some distance away! For a different perspective, the room was a reasonable size and the bed was comfortable. On the negative side there was only a commode chair over the toilet and a complete lack of other seating in the shower. It's pretty difficult for a wheelchair-bound guest to move a commode chair without wheels while sitting on it. Finally, some light fittings had no bulbs and an armchair had sponge rubber completely exposed on the armrests, as you would expect if you saw it at a kerbside collection...
Benson Court Motel

They have everything you could need for a few nights stay. It has a kettle, toaster, microwave, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, cutlery and crockery. The queen size bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. Excellent shower pressure with a big shower head. A comfortable lounge, a nice tv on the wall and an air conditioner which was more difficult to use than just pressing the on/off button unfortunately but we managed. We had a room at the front of the motel, on the road side but we had no problem falling asleep...noise was not an issue. It is an older motel and has keyed locks instead of key cards but both the rooms and the building are secure and we felt very safe staying there. The free, unsecured wifi is acceptable but not always reliable. Still, better than some places we’ve stayed. They have a great folder in the room that has some information about local places to eat-in, take-away or get delivered...very helpful. All of the staff we met, including a housekeeper who we asked for help with the A/C were very friendly and accommodating. I couldn’t ask for anything better at a surprisingly modest daily rate. We would definitely stay again.
Kookaburra Inn

Brisbane Central Business District
The environment is good, the boss planted a lot of green plants in the courtyard, very ingenuity. The surrounding area is quiet and on-street parking is also convenient. There is a kitchen where you can buy your own ingredients to make three meals. 10 minutes walk from the train station and 5 minutes walk to the big supermarket, very convenient. The only downside is that the room door lock sounds crisp, but fortunately the quality of the accommodation staff is very high, pay attention to light closing, no feeling noisy.
Hope Street Apartments by CLLIX

Wasn’t planning on staying here, but was bumped to this accomodation at the last minute by Clix. So a bit disappointed as we were staying at one of their other buildings which was closer to restaurants etc and had a better pool. The apartment was clean and looked out over the hills and river, the bed was comfortable. Could have done with more kitchen utensils like a baking tray for starters. Stove had a wok burner but no wok or fry pan. Tiny wash basin with no side bench so had to put stuff on floor. Shower door handle had coroded and needs replacing. Disappointed in the pool, even though technically out doors it was all under cover thus no sun light so a bit chilly as it acted as a wind tunnel. Also was on 22nd floor and could still hear trains that ran past building.
Mercure Clear Mountain Lodge

This restaurant is in the suburbs of Brisbane. It is very far from the city. It costs $100 to take a taxi. It is inconvenient to buy things. Even taking a taxi is very difficult. If you don’t like to see the scenery, it is recommended not to stay in this hotel
