Best Hotels in Borobudur

The hotel staff was very nice. They drove us around to find ATMs that could successfully withdraw cash, took us to Borobudur and helped to arrange the itinerary with the staff according to our needs. Due to problems with the Yogyakarta train booking system, we were unable to pay for train tickets online. The hotel lady also helped to pay for the booking with her own account. The hotel environment is good, it is considered a luxury hotel in the local area, not far from Borobudur, but the hotel still needs to arrange a shuttle bus, which is slightly expensive. Of course, if you install grab yourself, you don't need a hotel car.

If you are to visit the Borobudur site, this is one of the best places to stay as it's literally 100m away from the main gate (Regular visit). If you are planning on the Sunrise or Sunset tour, they provide free transportation to the gate (This gate is located around 1.5Kms away from the guest house). Staff was simply amazing. I have to especially mention Himatul who was really helpful in providing vital information related to the site/tour in general. Additionally, she has accompanied us during the visit which kept our minds at ease. As per the room, it had, 1 King size bed, 1 single bed which was more than enough for us. The room had air conditioning and an attached bathroom. They have provided a decent free breakfast with a satisfactory portion of Nasi Goreng with Guava juice(I loved it!) + they have free wifi. + rooms are air conditioned. + they have attached bathrooms + there's a common area to have your food - They don't have their own restaurant, but there are many places to buy local food including street food. + There's a supermarket/mart nearby. + Staff was super friendly and helpful. + Very close to the Borobudur site (100m to the main gate). + Free transportation for Sunset/Sunrise tours.

There is a swimming pool, no gym, close to Borobudur, but not a walking distance, it takes half an hour, there is a car to Borobudur at 4:30 in the morning, the hotel can buy tickets, breakfast in Baojing District, breakfast in the hotel itself General health, the water quality of the swimming pool is OK, the bottom is more garbage

We spent three nights at Gopalan. The first night was a bit shaky, but not because of the hotel. There was an intermittent power outage in Borobodur. Dadang, the night manager, calmly helped us and even upgraded our room. His calming influence was a sign of things to come. Maria, the hotel manager, arranged our trip to the Borobodur Temple with a fantastic guide, Udin. She arranged Javanese massages with two expert therapists. Our driver, Teddy, arranged by Maria for our rides back and forth to Yogyakarta, was sort of a mini tour guide himself. Room was nice, a bit spartan, but fine. WiFi worked nicely, Good swimming pool. Solid cable TV. Restaurant was surprisingly good for both breakfast and dinner. Try the avocado with egg for breakfast, and the Indonesian noodles were excellent for dinner. And you're out in the country, with a working farm out your front door, and just a 20 minute walk to the Temple. Recommend highly for those seeking a relaxed atmosphere and adventure amid the Indonesian noise and pollution. Rustic, but pretty sophisticated. Great spot for walking.

I feel the hotel overall was excellent. Great base to explore Jogja and Borobudur. Some highlights: 1) Excursions: we booked a Jogja day trip and Borobudur excursion through the hotel. A bit expensive but for our first time in Indonesia we felt worth the price. In fact, we think the hotel should do a better job advertising or featuring these services. The tours all include VIP tickets and guides, which is especially great at Prambanan and Borobudur temple. Just one thing to be aware is that traffic in Jogja can be bad so leave extra time for that. The driver was super nice and experienced, he made us feel right at home with cold towels and bottled water at every stop. 2) Hotel amenities: we were a huge fan of the new lagoon pool, and the spa. I also think the restaurant was a highlight. On our first morning, we were able to order ala carte breakfast since there was not so many guests. Quality of the food overall was very nice, with mix of Indonesian and western selections. 3) Rooms: I loved the unique design. I do not think I stayed anywhere like this before. Climbing the stairs can take some getting used to but is part of the experience. Try to leave at least 1-2 days to relax on the resort property. Next time I will want to stay for a bit longer. About two weeks ago, i participated in Borobudur Marathon which the main area for the event is in the Borobudur Temple itself. What i was thinking when i joined this event, i would like to have somewhere to stay close to the main area for this event since the Marathon itself would take a lot of my energy. So i searched the internet and VOILA! Rumah Boedi is only about 3Km from Borobudur Temple! Without any hesitation, i booked the property for 2 nights. What i can say about this property is, all photos you got while searching in the internet can't describe the experience you will get when staying in this property. This property has a Modern Javanese architecture, which almost all building and equipment are made of woods, many statues and temple replicas are placed to make the ambience positively different, we can hear water sounds from the fountain while sitting in the open space, and above all of that, what i can conclude about the property is i feel like staying in a place where you feel like staying in nature, full of serenity, no city noises, and also homey and comfortable in the same time. This is a solitude place. Foods are great, their beverages are the best in Magelang, try their Lemongrass drink! They said all are homemade. Don't worry about rooms, linens and bed are clean, as well as the furniture and the bathroom. Wifi perfectly available everywhere. I will definitely will go back to this place if i have another chance to visit Magelang. In additional, i met the owner of this property and he was really pay attention to every aspect of hospitality. I felt like not staying in a hotel but in our own home. What i can tell you that this place is very recommended if you have a plan to Borobudur Temple or Magelang.

I had booked this homestay several day before i stayed . It is located near borobudur temple. Its easy to find out this place by google maps and actually near the main road . When we check in around 8.30 p.m. ,just put my ID card and then he escort to the room and no more information . I try to asked the wifi but he is gone. The room is spacious but simple just bed , 1 chair and fan . The bathroom is okay , they didn't provide amenities , towel just 1 but we two person stay . The hot water didn't work so we take a shower with cold water . During the night we sleep well but during early morning we can hear the motorcycle or cars sounds and other guest in the next door with infant crying during 4 a.m. so we can't continue our sleep. For breakfast you can order to the cafe and price list was put on the chair . But you can find out in the other place cos there are so many place to buy the stuff for your breakfast. FYI no bottle water, and electric kettle. My bad experience during stay is when i finish shower , i got bite wasp on my hand . When i check out in the main room i found the nest of wasp in the roof , i report to the desk during our check out time . And the main hanging lamp need to be clean cos there are cob web.

I booked a simple room for 2 nights and i was deeply disappointed after staying for 2 nights in Rumah Dharma in Borobudur. So i decided to make an upgrade for a Panorama Villa with private pool. And yes ... it was worth to do that step. Finally it was a nice stay there. Staff was very nice and very friendly ... like all people i met on Java Island and they tried to do their best to help for all questions. We had one dinner their and i missed to enjoy a glass of wine ... or at least a beer with dinner. The view from the Villa is very nice with an overview of the ricefields to the Borobudur Temple. To me, the Villa with pool was a little bit overprized. But finally much better than the other rooms. You need at least a motorbike, as the hotel is a little outside of Borobudur. But to discovery the surrounding it is anyway the best to have a car or motorbike. We also booked a car to bring us to the airport at this hotel. And everything worked very well.

Wonderful place with fantastic people a little bit of the beaten track. The room was spotless the best place I've stayed in so far original Indonesia for sure ♥️♥️♥️

How good it is to go to an Indonesian hotel that has a star rating that matches its facilities. So many times in the last few weeks we have stayed at hotels that SAY they are five-star but are nowhere close to that. Sarasvati Hotel is listed as 3-star, and 3-star it is. It is spectacularly well located within walking distance of Borobudur Temple, there are lots of restaurants within easy walking distance, and there is a convenience store across the street. The rooms are clean but dated, and set around a quiet courtyard. It would be good to have a desk and chair, and easy access to a powerpoint in the room. I was able to use a table in the dining area for this though. Breakfast was a very pleasant surprise. As a boutique property, I expected there may be little on offer, and certainly not buffet-style. I was wrong. There was tea & coffee, juices, fresh fruit, rice, noodles, a chicken dish, a vegetable dish, a few local goodies, and bread for toasting (butter and 2 jams). There was also an egg chef for made-to-order eggs. My only criticism would be that used dishes were not cleared from the table promptly (or without having to ask). The staff was friendly, and courteous, and provided some good information about the changes to viewing at the Borobudur Temple. The gardens and pool were terrific. Rooms are on two levels, so try for the ground floor level if you do not want to climb stairs.
