Diane Sunshine Villa

Purely. The bed is comfortable. Nice blanket. We asked for a kettle in our room and they brought it to us along with mugs and water. Friendly girls. There is a bakery on the ground floor. One bad thing - it was very noisy on the last night, and some cat was screaming every night and it was impossible to sleep.

Malinawon Resort
3.9/517 Reviews
I just stayed at the Malinawon and thought overall the experience was fine. Here are my pros and cons: Pros: 1. I stayed there for two nights and with fees altogether came out to 7100 pesos (about 71$US a night, which is not bad) 2. Staff all super friendly, especially when we needed to get a tricycle to Alona. 3. Really enjoyed the layout of the property and how each room was pool facing. I was able to get a room on the ground floor (#29). 4. The pool, although shallow, was pretty big in my eyes. 5. The bed was really comfortable. Cons: 1. One day, the bartender called out sick, so we were told no drinks other than beer would be served. Seriously? Can't find a substitute? 2. The internet was really shoddy with poor connections. 3. We probably shouldn't have done this, but, we were able to play our music via the garden Bluetooth speaker. We were playing for about a good 20-30 minutes until we were told that we weren't allowed. But there was really no music playing in the garden area and the speaker was there via Airplay. 4. Location is a bit further away from Alona (ok, about a 5-minute ride on the tricycle) in case you were looking for something closer. 5. The safe was not working for me. I could have asked the staff but chose not to. Again, overall, the experience was fine. The staff, really polite and professional and courteous. The value was good.

Bathala Resort
4.5/526 Reviews
This resort opened only in December 2022 and is a sister resort of Amihan (directly connected). The French owner together with his attentive staff are doing a great job of starting a new property just minutes away from the main beach and restaurants located on the main street. Both Amihan and Bathala feature great outdoor spaces, lush greenery and very spacious rooms. The rooms have a very minimalist, modern design (but I would personally add art work or plants inside the room). In Bathala you can swim-up to the bar and select from many of cocktails offered. My only two recommendations for improvement would be the breakfast and providing electric mosquito killers. Breakfast selection is simple, with too few healthy options. Having more healthy options would be great. Regarding mosquitoes, unfortunately you have to be ready for plenty of them (or at least in the season we were travelling in). Electric mosquito killers in each room would make the sleep even more pleasant.
