Selina Bocas del Toro

Tue hotel idea very nice and well located. Breakfast is good with hot and cold options. The room Is big and the bed is big and confy. The staff is kind, and informative. The room has a kettle and a fridge for cold drinks. The toilet is big and well equide with towels

Have stayed in other Selina hostels in Central America so didn't hesitate to book this Selina in Bocas. Wow, not even in the same category as others. Booked a bed in female dorm online, non refundable. I just needed a one night stay before heading back to Costa Rica. I decided after 5 weeks of travel and dorms I would treat myself to a small private room. I took a quick look of room photos on website before upgrading. They happily took my $188 (Cad). This was at 2 pm, room would be ready in 30 mins. I went to use the washroom in the restaurant area, ladies room was in use. I waited a few minutes, door opened. A drunken guy stumbled out ( ladies room). The bathroom garbage was overflowing with dirty toilet paper. It was so gross. After seeing the bathroom I changed my mind about eating there and went elsewhere. When I got to my room I was shocked at the dirty concrete floor and disgusting walls. This place is ridiculously over priced. I have stayed in worse places but never have I paid so much money. Joke is on me.

Stayed a few times at this property. Its a cool and fun place to stay. My bugged disappoint was the overeall cleanliness.

I had to come down to Bocas for work / pleasure.. decided to stay at Selina for budget reasons and its central location. Given is a hostel it was great, the staff super friendly, great wifi conmection and nice area to work from. The evening bar area is friendly, they have good service, the drinks are delicious! Downside the noise, not complaining since I was aware this would be an issue, they even leave ear plugs on your nightstand. My recomendation stay during the week, weekends are busy and noisy.

Great island and vibe. I was lookin for yoga studios but there were not that much. There’s a loooot of restaurants to pick, buut the food wasn’t thaaat awesome. Expect to have cloudy days, as the locals say you can not really guess when its going to rain or be a perfect sunny day 🤷🏼‍♀️ not even weather apps.

Great location, quality of accommodation and food! Staff was great too - well informed, super kind and helpful. I sure would like to stay there again.

Wifi was down when got to hotel. Was unable to get key card until later on the day. Was not give room with balcony as had reserve. Hotel needs upgrade. Town bumbs hung around the hotel not giving guest peace. Begging for money and cigarettes.

The staff were super friendly, any issues with rooms (eg light blubs breaking) were fixed in a timely manner. This is a party hostel so there is late nights with music in the bar downstairs and you can hear musics from bars on the street but Isla Colon is a party island so this is to he expected. I didn’t find the music too bad and could fall asleep each night. The staff also stopped 2 drunk guys from checking into my room (i was the only one in there and am female) late at night after filthy fridays and put them in a different room which i really appreciated

I have had the worst experience at the Selina here in Bocas. I’ve stayed at many Selina’s before and this one is by far the worst for cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. First, I would like to mention that my mattress is covered in mold! The shared bathroom in my dorm was not cleaned once during my 5 day stay with mold in the shower, around the sink. Also the walls were so dirty and the sink itself with blood and toothpaste. The other bathrooms around the hostel are not any better! They’re always dirty and most do not have paper towel. Most of place is pretty run down and a lot of things need better cleaning or repair all together. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was informed that he is not here and not available to hear my concerns. No one followed up with me since. Lastly, I am a queer traveller and have always felt safe and welcome at Selina’s. However, this location I have received dirty looks from staff and they have not treated me with the Selina warmth and friendliness that I am used too. I even have had other guests make rude comments to me and when I mention it to staff or security, nothing is done. I had to switch rooms for my last night to a private room that was much cleaner and where I felt safer! And they still charged me the difference! I haven’t heard from anyone at Selina head office either I am extremely upset with the experience at this Selina. Given the cost of Selina’s (I paid $250 CAD for 5 nights), I expect a lot more!
