The Residence Aiolou Hotel and Spa is a great place to stay in Monastiraki , Athens . The hotel is in the middle of the city near to the most famous shopping street Ermou. Also the city attractions such as Acropolis are just a walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is newly refurbished, very clean and spacious . The staff are very friendly and helpful , i recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Athens

My daughter and I arrived exhausted having taken 3 planes from the States. Christos greeted us warmly and soon we were in our apartment and asleep in the amazingly comfortable bed. We woke up in time to stroll down the street to grab dinner among the many options. A photo of the restaurant name from that first night is below. But there are scads of restaurants on this PEDESDTRIAN ONLY STREET. (However, these apartments are situated close enough to the vehicle access area that your driver can easily help you the few feet to the Hellenic House front door with your luggage). I have some minimal mobility issues at the young age of 70 but I did not have trouble maneuvering the set of stairs, maybe 18 of them, that lead to the first floor and the elevator. Our apartment was immaculate, comfortable with one queen bed and a sleeper sofa had we wanted to use it. No view from our room but we didn't care because we weren't there to stay in the room. The room was serviced daily. Fridge, cooking area, sink, dining table and chairs. Just what we needed. The location is IDEAL, there is a pizza place and a Falafel place literally outside the front door if you need a quick bite. All the historic places in the photos below are within walking distance. There's a Starbucks 2 blocks down (one of the few things from the States we saw thankfully). Hang a right and 2 more blocks down is the ”flea market” area with everything you could want, under the shadow of the Acropolis. Christos can make arrangements for transport and suggest places to eat, have drinks, etc. He's a gem. If you are looking for a Five Star American Hotel with Room Service in Greece, I suggest instead that you go to Orlando, FL and stay at a Disney hotel and visit the Greece Pavillion at Epcot. If you want an authentic Greek experience, stay here! I am preparing to return this fall with my 3 sisters who loved my photos and description of Athens and want to go NOW. My daughter immediately asked, ”Are you going to contact Christos?” Absolutely!!

The management was not in place and it was very difficult to check in. I agreed to get the key in the key box but found it had been taken away. The door lock had to be unlocked with the key when I went out. The manager simply told me not to go out. Later, the administrator gave me the key. When she left, she bothered me and asked me to go downstairs to open the door for her. She had a bad attitude and didn't say thank you. She also knocked on the door eagerly, thinking it was appropriate to disturb people. The glass in the bathroom was not clean either.

Very nice hotel standing with an effort of design and services. The location is very good, central but far from the noise, some rooms will be quiet as they overlook the inner courtyard. Great welcome, welcoming place too. The rooms are well decorated and well equipped, coffee machine, kettle, tea, fridge, etc. very good. Small problem for the breakfast which was long in coming, although plentiful. But a lot of things don't have flavors (the omelet was dry and tasteless) or don't suit everyone's taste (donuts with artificial sugar topping, no thanks), way too much flour stuffing. The orange juice had to be fresh, elsewhere I found it more fruity and sweet, here it seemed to come out of a brick. In addition, the space is large, pretty because it is at the top, but very noisy, especially since the hotel welcomes a family clientele. Nevertheless pleasant stay, I highly recommend even if the price is high compared to Athens where you can find the same but cheaper.

There are only eight rooms in the property, and the one I stayed in, was very large with a bedroom, a desk area, and a sofa, seating area. The bathroom is fairly spacious, but like with other reviewer‘s I found that the shower through lots of water onto the main bathroom floor, so you kind of had to watch out for that. The noise from the street was almost nonexistent. However, the noise from the marble staircase was amazingly loud. The family above me, let their kids play in the stair well, and their conversation and screams echoed up and down the stairs. The door to the room does nothing to stop this noise. Otherwise, when there was no one in the stairwell, the hotel was amazingly quiet. It was very clean as well , and the staff was extremely helpful.

The hotel is only a few streets away from main street. Lots of restaurants n bars nearby but the area itself is quiet. The room is really nice, like a penthouse, gorgeous bathtub with a view. Staff are really friendly n breakfast is not bad. Only demerit is water pressure, but guess its not the fault of hotel but government.
