I don’t understand why I booked a room with a small bed and no bathroom. The temporary upgrade is really expensive. It was the most expensive night in this ten-day trip (U$190+150=340)

STAFF Incredibly friendly and welcoming. I cannot speak highly enough. Questions were answered efficiently (including where to go for Espresso and where to go walking!). Faultless PARKING I parked nearby in 2hr parking at 4pm, which meant I had no charge. Maybe if you park earlier you would need to pay RECEPTION Outstanding, there is a lovely seating area on ground floor. At night you can put a film on (however my room had a TV also). ROOM What a stunning old building. I had the smallest ("Micro") room with bathroom down the hall. For Europe the room is not small, for America it's modest. However the detail...lovers old style sink, windows and radiator. Such character! And a pencil-sharpener on the wall (!). Incredibly clean as are the showers and toilets. VALUE Outstanding, I booked months in advance and paid $69 for the Micro Room. Bargain for such a sqeaky clean atmospheric stay. FACILITIES Everything I needed, towels and well stocked showers. Free coffee in the morning. WARNING The American Market is not so familiar with modest sized rooms and shared showers (if thats the room you book). The website is clear and its reflected in the price however if you want a 'standard' hotel then book Holiday Inn....and miss out on this beautiful old building with real character!

I hate to leave bad reviews, but I would never go back to Selina Commodore in Astoria, for the following reasons: 1) Very loud. It was a warm three days and since there is no air conditioning we had to leave the windows open at night for air. All night long there is noisy traffic. The hotel does supply earplugs. They ought install AC so one can have the windows closed. 2) No parking. You can park on the street, but there is a "move every 2 hours" parking situation near the hotel during the day. They need to contract to provide reliable parking for one's stay. You can walk most places in Astoria you would want to go, and leave the car sit. 3) Vastly overpriced. It appears to be a nice boutique hotel online, but is only fair. It should probably rent for about half of what was charged. Yes, it is high season, but still.

Honestly am disappointed that I cannot leave a positive review, but they never gave me the chance to stay. I arrived at 8:15 PM to locked doors. I booked through a third-party, and unfortunately, buried under a drop-down menu was the information about an 8PM deadline for checking in. When I booked, I did receive a text message stating that there would be, "no refunds for no-shows". Which had me a little confused, but at the time I didn't think anything of it, after all I was planning to show up on Friday evening, checking-in and laying my head down on a pillow. When I arrived to find locked doors, I tried calling, emailing, texting, all to no avail. I would have loved a courtesy call, "hey are you still coming?" or even just including the 8PM deadline as part of your, "No-show" message. Making it clear that that was the reason why I'm being refused a refund. Plain and simple, I feel bamboozled. It was a cheaper booking that now has me filing reports with the BBB, the third-party, and leaving poor ratings on review websites.

You have got to be kidding me. What a piece of crap. This isn’t a hotel, it’s a hostel. Don’t ever stay here. Unbelievable garbage. If I could find someone that worked here past 8pm, I could check out of this miserable place. Walls are paper thin, it’s hot, and I can literally hear the conversation in the next room.

Sweet little basic hotel. They keep the price low by cutting the right corners. Rooms were clean, comfy, stylish. No front desk during the night so you have to keep track of an actual metal key to get back in. If you're springing for a room with it's own bathroom, the price becomes comparable to slightly nicer places like the Bowline down the street.

Awful rude staff. New policies are not friendly to COVID cancellations. It should be zero stars. The new remote management is horrible and totally out of touch. Their new policies around cancellations are awful, and the staff is extremely rude. The new administration also expects you to do everything through an annoying app that doesn't align with their on-site record. I used to only stay at the Commodore in Astoria, but I will never go back now.
