A vibrant meeting of east and west, Hong Kong is unique, dynamic and filled with contrast. The city has one of the world's most dramatic harbors, an incredible range of shopping, and breathtaking views. And when you have had enough of the vibrant atmosphere, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful environment of the outlying islands and country parks.
The average temperature of Hong Kong is about 23 degrees C. In spring, you will need to wear a sweater or coat. In summer, the weather is hot and very humid with heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. We suggest you bring thin shirts, cotton blouses and a raincoat or umbrella. In autumn the weather is mild with heavy rainfalls still expected until the end of September. In winter it is dry and slightly cold, so you will probably need a sweater and a coat.
From May to September, it is typhoon season in Hong Kong. Heavy rainfall and strong winds may prevent you from getting the most out of your visit to Hong Kong in this season, however there are plenty of things to do and see which provide some shelter if you choose to visit then.
