Light Rain  to  Rain   5 ℃ to  7℃ China Guide > Hubei Guide > Wuhan Guide

Located in the very center of China, and known as one of China's "Three Furnaces" because of the incredible heat pervading in the summer months, Wuhan is a HUGE metropolis, divided into three separate districts, each the size of a small city in itself.

Wuhan is also an important domestic and foreign commercial port for central China. With the development of the Yangtze Valley, Wuhan is becoming increasingly important both in domestic and international terms.

Location: Situated at the confluence of the Yangtze River and its greatest branch, the Hanjiang, Wuhan (population 8 million), the provincial capital of Hubei.

History: Wuhan was one of the most politically crucial spots in the nation, when the Guomintang moved the capital here from Guangzhou in 1927. After the foundation of the People's Republic of China, Wuhan was directly under the control of the Central Government and under provincial control by 1954.

Chinese Net Friends' Discoveries:

*
On the way from Hankou to Xinzhou, in Luoyang Town, there are plenty of rape flowers in March!
*
There are many snack stands in Hubu Lane(Hubu Xiang) worth recommending to the tourists. I am still lingering on the taste of the juicy baozi(Tangbao), noodles and wine. And never ignore the Wuhan Duck Neck! Hubei people are very considerate and enthusiastic.

To tell the truth, I don't like Wuhan very much, but I can't ignore its highlights: the potato cake in Beihu, the beef noodles on Taibei Road, the hot pots between Sanyang Road and Siwei Road, the barbecue on Ao'men Road near Xianggang Road¡
